Direction of the Country

The other night I read an interesting magazine article that pretty well relates the direction of our country has taken in the past few years...

The richest man in the world lives in Mexico- the tallest building in the world is in Taipai, and Dubai is building a taller one, with the second tallest being built in Dubai a year and a half later- the largest factory in the world is in China- the largest refinery is in India...Even Vegas is no longer tops- the largest casino hotel now is the Venetian in Macao- and Macao has overtaken Las Vegas with the largest gambling revenues in the world...The 2 largest shopping malls in the world are in China- with all the top 10 shopping malls in the world being outside the US...

Three years ago- the US would have been the tops in many of those categories...And what was the largest economy in the world- is now stagnated and in danger of imploding....

And while the US spends Trillions $ on bombs, troops, and foreign nation building which is raping our economy- and divides the nation, while alienating the population of the rest of the world with our colonialism and warmongering-- the rest of the world is building infrastructure and their economic future...

And history has shown that if a superpower relys solely on its military might, it will fall behind....You just need to look back to the British Empire and see that.....

The richest man in the world lives in Mexico-

the Third richest...

Wikpedia lists him as 2nd richest- and reports that Fortune magazine had reported him as the richest... Who knows- with Bushenomics and the current deflating dollar, the whole Forbes ranking may be off from day to day....But even a neocon like you will have to admit he has a few scheckels....

Won't be long and GW will get his wish to make the Peso the same as the US dollar- and old Carlos can convert everything to the Amero...

to make our country look bad you had to look deep and past facts..

the tallest building in the world is in Taipai, and Dubai is building a taller one, with the second tallest being built in Dubai a year and a half later-

WorldsTallestBuildings.gif

looking at the buildings it is clear we built the tallest.. back in 74.. and the rest added towers / spires to get beyond the rules..

While determining the world's tallest structure has generally been straightforward, the definition of the world's tallest building or the world's tallest tower is less clear. The disputes generally center on what should be counted as a building or a tower, and what is being measured.

One measure includes the absolute height of a building, another includes only spires and other permanent architectural features, but not antennas. The tradition of including the spire on top of a building and not including the antenna dates back to the rivalry between the Chrysler Building and 40 Wall Street. A modern-day example is that the antenna on top of the Sears tower are not considered part of its architectural height, while the spires on top of the Petronas towers are counted.

had you looked for feats in America that you could be proud of.. you would have found...

"Construction has started for a 610 m (2,001 ft) skyscraper in Chicago to be completed in 2011. The Chicago Spire, with 150 floors, will be the tallest residential building in the world."

"The Freedom Tower is now under construction and is the main tower comprising the redevelopment of the site of the former Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York following the attacks of September 11, 2001. Its antenna will reach a height of 541.4 m (1,776 ft)"

having the biggest is not a measure of who has the best..

Steve- since you have lots of time to check out (and nitpick  ) things- heres a few more the article listed showing that the while our Bush led country stagnates the world is passing us by- much of it supported by Bush's sell out the US policy....

Largest Brewery- no longer Anheuser Busch of the US- but now InBev of Belgium $16.7 billion in sales....

Largest English Language Paper- was USA Today of the US- but now The Times of India with 3.7 million copies every weekday....

Largest Company- no longer ExxonMobil of the US- but now PetroChina of China with worth of approx. 1 Trillion $...

Largest Commercial Airplane is no longer the Boeing 747 built in the US- but now is the AirBus 380 which carries more than 800 passengers....

Richest Bank is no longer Citigroup US- but now the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China with $254 billion in market capitalization...

And now GW's on course to let the worlds largest Packer (JBS-Brazil) buy out the largest share of the US packing industry in more integration of the industry...

The true conservative publications can see the farcity in Bushenomics- and how GW is selling out our country....Just because he's never had to be accountable for a thing in his life- doesn't mean you can continue to spend without keeping a source of income to pay for it...

Will trade deficit trigger depression?
Economists: It's de-industrializing America, leading nation toward 2nd-rate power status

WASHINGTON – America is selling its birthright not for a mess of pottage, but for a mess of Chinese junk, and the resulting "unsustainable" trade deficit is leading "to the collapse of the dollar, depression and conversion of the United States to a second-rate power," says a new book written by three generations of a family of economists.

"Not only will the United States feel the pain, but other countries will as well," write Raymond, Howard and Jesse Richman in "Trading Away Our Future." "Because other countries are dependent upon the U.S. dollar as a reserve currency and because they are dependent on exports to the United States to sustain their own economies, the eventual collapse of the dollar could wreak havoc on the economies of the whole world."

While some other economists have claimed there is no danger from a trade deficit that has reached nearly $60 billion, and some have even suggested they represent a blessing for Americans, the authors strongly disagree.

"A basic principle of economics is that there is no free lunch," they write. "Those who think that the Chinese, Japanese, Saudis, et al, are giving the United States a free lunch when they sell more than they buy are engaged in short term thinking that ignores huge long term costs."
