Pretty ugly today. One herd was not the type I like, too leggy but mostly brockleface and black cows weighing from 1300 - 1650 brought from $500 - $600 with a high of $785.

Another small herd of big, limo influenced cows all ages weighing from 1350 to 1700 brought from535 for a lightweight cow bred 8 mo. to a high of $750. The funny thing about that herd was that the highest selling cow was a big, fleshy Simmi cross weighing 1710, open, so she sold by the pound and brought 48 cents for a total of $820.

So there you go, sell your cows open!

Some Char/Char cross weighing 1500 - 1785 brought $600 -$775. Man there were some big cows today. They better have a big calf beside them in the fall.

Quick a few were sold to Clare, I'm assuming Butch Clare so who knows how many of them are actually going to drop that calf come spring.

If these cows don't make somebody some money at those prices, then we are in trouble.

Up here last October, a fella 'dispersing' his herd (more like culling back), sold some old breds at the mart for $200. If they had been sold a few hours earlier as culls, he would have netted at least $350.
