My wife took this picture at the Pearl Harbor Memorial. The elder gent is a survivor from the attack on Pearl Harbor, who went on to have a long and distinguished military career, and I was lucky enough to have had the opportunity to sit and visit with him for a little while.

I can't help but wonder what would have happened if his generation would have had to face the enemies of the day with the libs and mainstream media we have today. Not to mention most of Hollywood that can get any face time running down all attempts at a military victory, verses the many entertainers of his day that gave of themselves to entertain the troups. As a country, we've lost alot of spine, cohesiveness, and decency in the last few decades.

Several of the veterans of Pearl have made it their retired lifes job to meet and greet folks at the Pearl Harbor memorials- and to make sure that the stories of that day and their lost comrades is not forgotten....

I also wonder the same thing. What if the president, after Pearl Harbor, had stood amidst the ruins of Scofield Barracks and said that we won't stop until we have killed or captured the people responsible for this Day of Infamy and then ordered the US Army to invade Brazil!!

Funny thing is is that back then the anitwar folks were the Republicans that were totally isolationist and did not want to get involved with the war in any way...Roosevelt actually had to bend/break the law to send aid to England to keep them from going under..... But Dec. 7th united the country.....

We certainly have lost a lot of spine , cohesiveness,....... And one of the major factors for this IMHO is our Politicians who are the pawns of the corporations--- can't even pass a bill to secure our borders and our president won't even pardon 2 border patrol agents who shot a known drug smuggler? The tail wags the dog too much in our country.

:lol2: They're just like sheep - they just repeat what they hear on that hate-filled liberal talk radio - without even checking the facts to see if it's true.

Yep, liberals just love being in amongst the sheep. There's one of 'em now...

Had the President been standing amongst the ruins of Schofield Barracks, which was not even a primary target but hit by 2 Zero's enroute to Wheeler, he would not have been standing any where near where the most damage was done during the attack, or even where the most lives were lost, in this case NONE at Schofield.
I would like to think he would have chosen Ford Island to have made a case for war, and one thing is for certian he would not have been talking about Brazil either
Totally with out any line of sensible or logical argument.

You mind will just not let you grasp the art of logic will it? You can't see anything other than the rightwing dogma. And, you always seem to call others names.

I was just wondering how long it would have taken until today's leftists, artists, and peaceniks would have blamed the attack on us because of our intolerance and history of aggression. And how long until some rag newspaper went and translated the Japanese communist manifesto, much like the late "stevec" made sure that we were all linked to the similar websites that displayed the letters of bin laden, and his reasons and idealism were thoroughly "explained" to us.

Please explain how you came to that conclusion!
All i did was point out to Mr Schnurrbert that the rubble at Schofield Barracks would not have had nearly the shock value for declaring war as opposed to Ford Island, Hickam, or even Wheeler.
Simple logic dictates that you use the best weapon you have to win any arguement, be it on thiis board or elsewhere.
If you are referring to his statement about Brazil, that is off base as far as using an anolgy.

Mr Schnurrbert as far as me engaging my mind, I have one that is capable of viewing both sides of an issiue unlike yourself, who has a bad case of tunnel vision

Sherbie, you are the one so entrenched in your political view, that you can not see anything else. but you are so busy trying to pin everyone down, you can not see the fact for yourself.
so I resort to name calling?? well I calls em as I sees um ! dick!

It is virtually impossible to have a battle of wits with an unarmed person. You folks can't comprehend what you read and don't understand things like analogies so I quit. CSMO for any of you vets out there.

analogy: similarity in some respects between things otherwise unlike; partial resemblance. 2 an explaining of something by comparing it point by point with something else.

Brazil had nothing to do with the attack on Pearl Harbor
