Album sales can be a hokus pokus smokescreen much like book sales, but you just can't fake fans in the stands.

"Out-of-the-gate ticket sales for the Dixie Chicks' upcoming Accidents & Accusations tour are far below expectations and several dates will likely be cancelled or postoned"

Sorry for the injustice Canada. You'd think the BSE embargo was dirty enough pool without putting the Chicks on them

"Canada loves the Chicks," says ACC booking director Patti-Ann Tarlton."

This whole Dixie Chick thing has always been a mystery to me. And a little scarey. Such condemnation over one remark is amazing.

We hear so much about defending the freedoms and rights of a democratic society, and yet condemn those who choose to exercise the right of free speech. It seems to me that it is OK to speak what's on your mind, as long as it's the same as what everyone else believes.

Whether or not we agree with anyone's opinion, we really can't agree with taking away their right to express them.

That's my opinion.

kato, Remember this is the US and NOT Canada we are talking about. People act differently in the two countries. Their concerts in Canada are sold out.

Everyone has a right to free speech- but there is a time and a place for everything...Movie actors and entertainers should not be using their "entertainment" as the method to voice and profit from this free speech- especially when they are in a foreign country during a time of war....If they do then they should expect repercussions against their form of entertainment....

Kato,

You're preaching to the choir there. No one champions free speech more than me. Its also a matter of free speech to register condemnation through lack of patronage. So now free speech done got outta hand?

The DC tour is well promoted, those goys are pros. It may be rtrue that many stations avoid the Dixie Chicks in response to listeners demands (maximize profits)

AGAIN, IT IS GREAT THE DIXIE CHICKS HAVE EXPRESSED THEMSELVES, AND NOW, SO HAVE MANY OTHERS.
