Do you consider this a positive move for the Rancher?

To me Andybob its more usurption of states rights- and a move by the big corporate interests to get more control...It will ban the COOL, additional food safety, and truth in labeling laws some states have passed (many times at the direct vote of the people)- put more food/beef/meat control in the hands of the USDA, while at the same time the USDA has been cutting funding and enforcement of many of these same programs...

It was introduced and is being heavily lobbied for by the Major Packers because it will then give them only one organization to have to lobby (USDA) which in my belief they already have in their pockets- and they won't have to worry about the Legislatures of the state or the people/voters of these states...

Anytime you take more power from the counties and the states and give it to the Federal Bureaucracy you are taking more freedom/control out of the hands of the people.....

When states and/or munincipalities bypass the Feds and begin making their own laws, Washington needs to take that as a wake-up call.

What does the U.S.A. farming sector need to do in order to present a sufficiently united front against big business interests? Is it purely financial, or can the agricultural sector develop sufficient political clout if everyone can stand together on important issues?
