Yesterday was the nicest day of spring so far, but not for Sadie, our son's heeler/collie cross. I was feeding the cows when a few wandered out the gate to munch on a bale sitting just outside the feeding yard.

Knowing they wouldn't go too far, I just kept on with the feeding and knew they would come back before I was finished.

But not Sadie - she couldn't wait. For some reason, obsessive/compulsive comes to mind when I think about Sadie.

I didn't see what happened; all I know is that the 3 cows came back to the gate on the trot and I heard Sadie screaming/yelping and doubled up in pain, dragging herself across the lane toward the back lawn. Her legs all worked but she seemed to have one heck of a sore gut.

I suspect she snuck up behind the cows and got one heck of a kick in the stomach or chest area.

She is looking a little brighter this A.M. but still very sore and sorry looking.

A good dog, big in willingness and try but just a little shy on the understanding part . . .
