It seems to me like manufacturers of non prescription drugs and medicine put their name and trademark on the label. Kind of like they want to promote it and establish a reputation for quality and build confidence with consumers. Prescription drugs don't do this and could be of multiple origins. My first thoiught is that drugs that mean the difference between life and death should be able to be traced back to their origin by the consumer by reading the label. However, in light of recent label counterfiting, it seems like when you buy drugs you are just taking a pig and a poke and hoping they are authentic. Unless there is some way to prosecute this, our whole marketing system is compromised. This also compromises country of origin labeling, after all we do have a mafia in this country too.
