Duct Tape

The going joke on our farm is how my husband makes temporary fixes with duct tape. I seen it all after last night at the races. Our son's car got beat up bad in an earlier race last night. Important, major parts were cracked or busted. They ducted taped stuff together just so he could run a couple laps in the feature and then pull off. They didn't think the rear end, etc. would hold with just the tape. Well, he was running so good he didn't pull off the track and finished 4th out of 24 cars. So now the term " duct tape will help for about anything" has been given a new meaning on our farm. LOL

we always called it Gleaner Weld, because most of the guys running those old Gleaner combines had them taped up to beat the band

I've been in a prototype combine (if gleaner gets it right, they'll paint it) for the last two weeks and have a couple more to go. I'm sick of dust, grease , and screaming metal. You can't play the radio loud enough to hear what anyone is saying. The windows by evening look like someone cleaned them with a snicker bar and then tossed whole wheat flour on them. I don't know if I'll give out first or the little F2 will. The swaths are way too big for the combine. It's first gear with the variable all the way back. If you hit a green or wet spot, it slugs. I've dug it out about a half a dozen times. Only fools run combines. I have a preacher friend that sold his old fescue machine. He said preachers just don't need to own combines. It's hard on morality.

I used to take duct tape and tape my boots with it after the sole started wearing through or coming off. You can get a lot of extra miles out of a pair of boots by duct taping them! And it is cheaper than taking them to a shop! I used to get a lot of stares with my duct taped boots. If the tape wears through or off, just add some more!!!

I don't know if they've come up with leather colored duct tape yet tho!
