The Senate voted to kill a spending bill that would delay the Affordable Care Act for one year.
The Senate voted 54-46 to table amendments to the bill that was previously passed in the House, according to The Washington Post. In addition to the delay, the amendments called for the elimination of taxes on medical devices. The temporary bill would have avoided a government shutdown at midnight.
The New York Times reports that House Republicans are currently discussing strategy in the wake the vote.
Senate Majority Leader said negotiation is over with House Republicans during a press conference.
