what a joke! ever heard of the byrd amendment? it does exactly what he accuses china of doing. funny how everything is blamed on signing a bad deal but not on american business. goes to show how you can manipulate all the trade deals you want but if you're a high cost producer you're your own worst enemy.

The Byrd amendment got repealed, too. How are we not signed to a bad deal?

you're going to maintain the most economically powerful country in the world has not been the largest influence in determining trade rules throughout the world? you write the rules and the chinese use them against you! who is willling to devalue their currency these days? it's always somebody else's fault isn't it? maybe if american business had any patriotism they would try to make the american economy work but it's easier to buy politicians and work the laws so they can have virtual slave labour overseas (old things are new again!). until america tries to compete rather than just changing the rules every few years the same old story will just be retold again and again. canada's manufacturing sector is the same - not very innovative or competitive.if you look at american trade negotiation strategies they are more aimed at investment and financial sectors so the chinese know they have to restrict access in these areas.

I probably agree with you more than I disagree. The way I see it, our trade negotiators are working for the folks making the donations and not for the people. Greed buys influence and 100,000 people take it in the shorts so 1 person can try to get more money than God.

However, the reason I posted this was to give an example of how this notion of "free" trade isn't what it's advertised to be.
