"This is probably just a perception"

...so this is basically his opinion

Yeah.

It's a perception that most of the world's glaciers, icefields, and summer sea ice cover are receding.

Yeah.

Maybe its time to take a trip up to the park soon to be known as "Used to be Glaciers" National Park.

Yeah, and there is no proof what is causing it - only speculation. Sure as hell couldn't be that big bright HOT orb in the sky, could it? Naw - has to be more complicated than that.

"This is probably just a perception, but I just have the feeling that the glaciers are melting, the snow capping the mountains is less than it was 12 years ago when I saw it last time," Thrisk said. "That saddens me a little bit."

Do you guys read the articles you post?

Was it the same season of the year etc? This whole issue poses so many possibilities and there will never be any absolutes.

Canadians are just fine with me. I prefer Koreans. There are a couple here with me on a one year training agreement. They see most everything in black and white. No gray. The touchy feely or fluff issues don't cloud anything for them.

Most of the Canadians I am familiar with are from the west coast and all seem to be practical.

ot, how do you like when someone starts putting words in your mouth?

FH was correct, he stated that it was just a perception - and you want to claim that statement as grounds for establishing a scientific fact?? :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

I don't care who the astronaut is, he is speculating about the cause of climate change just as much as Obama was about the cop acting stupidly.

Since a great deal of science is perception and opinion after varying degrees of qualitative and quantitative analysis- that does not make the mans perception automatically bad...

Unless you just automatically assume all Canuck astronauts/scientists have no credibility or standing.... :???:

Does this qualify for your standard of "sound science" R2? How does he know what the true cause is of his non scientific observations are?

Maybe we should shut down the space program because of all the carbon that is remitted into the atmosphere every time they feel the need to escape the earths gravity? Do you suppose he will change his "observations" then

Let us all just hope they are not up there when several hurricanes are building out on the ocean. Surely there is a way Gore could make a buck off of that too.

before looking at his opinion, and perception, I looked up his qualifications... he is a really well educated, well qualified scientist...

but not in the field he was commenting on... add in other factors such as season, weather and real measurable facts and he might be right, or it might be just a perception.. but his comment isn't sound measurable science... or even a degree of qualitative and quantitative analysis..
