What gets me is that actually running as a true conservative wins every time. I don't know why more don't try it? I like Bush in a lot of ways, but he is no Ronald Reagan, unfortunately. We need another Reagan, or Goldwater. He was on the money in a lot of ways.

And jigs, no buffalo on this ranch.

on the bright side, with a dem. controled house, they can pass a law to say that John Kerry REALLY won the medals, and was only joking about getting stuck in Iraq.

It is better than a presidential pardon.

20 years ago I would not have sweat it to much. But today with the problem we have with terrorist. It gets scary waiting even 2 years. And the really scary thing is that it 2006 will foreshadow the 2008 elections.

Look at what we lost last time the Dem's were in charge, a couple embassies, a Ship, an attempt on World Trade Center. and what led to 911.

I want people in office that will nip this crap in the bud.

We're screwed. The Reps forgot how to be conservative, and now the cut 'n run caucus is going to do all they can to create a situation that our children...and probably grandchildren will have one hell of a time dealing with as far as National Security goes.

We are about to get a Sec. of Defense who understands the value of real intelligence over bravado. It will be good for the country.

I hadn't realized that. But in reading the board, I realized that the liberals have taken over the government, even though they don't represent American "values"! What a shock. I think Dems took Congress because Conservatives like many on here don't represent American values.

Dems picked up 6 of the 7 Sentate seats actually in play. They would have picked up 7 for 7 except for the racist ploy in TN. But what else is new? Republicans will divide the American people any way they can as long as it keeps them in power. It didn't this time.

Dems picked up 29 (and counting) House seats, including Tom Delay's.

Dems picked up 6 governors and I don't know how many state legislative bodies. That's where redistricting starts, in the state legislature. State government does the balloting recounts.

Probably the most conservative state in the Union voted down an abortion ban. Remarkable.

For the first time ever a party controls Congress without the South. And if George W. Bush isn't willing to get us out of Iraq before 2008, I don't doubt the Dems will make strong inroads into the South. A disportionate number of southern boys and girls are dying there compared to the rest of the country.

Old George has been right about one thing, the Republican Party took a "thumping" Tuesday.

I'm just feeling tooooooo good to spend much time here today.

Most people could care less how governmnet operates until it affects them. For an off year election holding records in voting, the people are seeing that the government is not just obscure, but it is affecting them personally.

I am glad the republicans lost after being such consumate politicians instead of statesmen. It serves them right. Maybe they can change and not sell out next time and they would get my vote. Now it is the dem's chance to show what they can do. I hope they don't fall under the same trap.

In the past, I'd agree with you about people not caring. But when Bush flew into DC to sign the Terri Schiavo bill, it got a lot of people's attention. When they forbade Medicare from negotiating drug prices, it got a lot of people's attention. When Bush used his first veto on the stem cell research bill, it got a lot of people's attention. I think people are concerned about the deficit and know that people are concerned about the war, even if they don't, personally, have someone serving.

:D The total lack of leadership and accountability came to the forefront in the Foley scandal. I think we should throw them all out every ten years or so and start over. But one of Peosi's goals (she says) is to limit lobbyist influence. If they can get that done, it might keep the culture of corruption from re-occurring so quickly. It's amazing how quickly the House Republicans became corrupt.

I would have to agree. Some are so blinded by partisanship they can not see it.
