Obama’s Own Power to Fuel the Nation

by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace

(2008-07-30) — Presumptive U.S. President Barack Obama today announced his plan to “end America’s dependence on foreign oil, dirty coal and dangerous nuclear power by unleashing new technology that will tap a recently-discovered source of renewable energy.”

According to an outline of the plan, Sen. Obama’s own “personal power and magnetic energy” will form the core of an entirely new system for keeping the lights on and the wheels rolling across the nation.

“The energy that we have generated among Democrats, journalists and Germans can, and should, be tapped,” he said. “When I’m sitting in the Oval Office I’ll issue an executive order to the Department of Energy mandating that it find a way to capture and deliver my personal power and magnetism to the energy-starved masses across this great, but tragically-flawed land.”

“People of world, it’s time to stop drilling the earth,” said Sen. Obama. “It’s time to start drawing warmth and light from an inexhaustible source. When we put our minds to it, there’s nothing I can’t do.”

Comically- I just talked to several folks that returned from Germany-- they ain't pushing no cars there- as they have cars that travel at 100+ on the Autobahn that make 70+ mpg....

Looks like we folks that have bought into the oil folks promoted propaganda are the dummies....

Would you post a link . I would like to know who builds these cars .

Well- I didn't know there was any links- as these reports all came from folks that have been in Germany this summer visiting their kids who are in the service... But a google can find several sites...They said many of these vehicles travel on diesel/biodiesel- and aren't allowed in the US without major modifications :???: They also said while we've been pouring money into the Oil Industry-- Europe has developed bullet trains that travel at 125 mph normally but some that can go as fast as 200+- on less fuel/electricity- while we still sit with Amtraks... They commented it was not good for sightseeing......

Also if you do any research on Brazil you will find that many of the vehicles sold there are "multi fuel engines" (gasoline, alcohol, diesel, biodiesel, natural gas) like the military has had for years - many made by US carmakers- but as far as I can find not available in any US vehicles unless you buy a military surplus vehicle... :???:

And according to old Boone Pickens- a Russian company is installing new natural gas fueling stations thruout Europe.....

German Loremo AG (Munich) introduced their ultra efficient car at the 76th annual Motor Show 2006 in Geneva last month, the Loremo. Geneva Motor Show

Founded in 2000, this new company developed a light-weight passenger car with outstanding aerodynamics. The one, two combination of light weight and tunnel tested aerodynamics allow this car to travel 157 miles per gallon of gasoline or 1.5 l per 100km!

Even with this added gas mileage Loremo didn't sacrifice speed. The base model Loremo LS is powered by a 2 cylinder 20 hp turbo diesel engine that will reach a speed of 100 mph and the GT model will reach up to 135 mph with a 0 to 60 mph acceleration of 9 seconds.

3) Honda Civic Hybrid. If you like the Civic then you will love the Hybrid. Same excellent build and safety qualities but with a fantastic 48 MPG rising to over 50 MPG on those highway drives, making this one of the most popular high MPG vehicles.

2) Toyota Prius. Very affordably priced mid-sized car. With its 1.5 liter engine and practical styling this is a nice roomy car. The Prius will give you a whopping 60 MPG around town but is actually less economic on the highway, giving about 51 MPG.

1) Honda Insight. One of the smaller high MPG vehicles but still one of the top cars with best gas mileage. The Insight delivers a great 60 MPG around the city and a fantastic 66 or over on the longer drives, keeping it on the top of the list of cars with best gas mileage.

The German automaker has reduced fuel consumption on its diesel A-class vehicles by an average of 8%, and some models will come with a "microhybrid" start/stop feature, making the cars up to 9% more fuel efficient. This feature will automatically stop the engine when the vehicle isn't moving and start it right back up when the gas is pressed. The widespread use of this technology represents a shift towards acceptance of more unconventional fuel-saving techniques.

The best of these A-class models reaches an impressive 49 MPG, with another getting 51 MPG when combined with the Blue Efficiency package. Blue Efficiency and stop/stop features are also available on the B-class, which is notable because it features several cars with natural gas engine options that use as much as 50% less energy than their gasoline equivalents.
