Rep. Devin Nunes steps away from Russia investigation amid ethics complaints

After a number of ethics complaints, Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., announced today that he will step aside from leading the House Intelligence Committee's probe into alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

"Several left-wing activist groups have filed accusations against me with the Office of Congressional Ethics. The charges are entirely false and politically motivated, and are being leveled just as the American people are beginning to learn the truth about the improper unmasking of the identities of U.S. citizens and other abuses of power," Nunes said in a statement released this morning.

But he said today that Republican Rep. Mike Conaway of Texas, with assistance from GOP Reps. Trey Gowdy of South Carolina and Tom Rooney of Florida, will "temporarily" lead the committee's Russia probe while the House Ethics Committee looks into the matter.

"I will continue to fulfill all my other responsibilities as Committee Chairman, and I am requesting to speak to the Ethics Committee at the earliest possible opportunity in order to expedite the dismissal of these false claims," the statement concluded.

dang liberals will destroy anyone to protect their so called legacy..

but really, the ------ gall...
The House Ethics Committee announced today that it is investigating Nunes' actions after "allegations of unauthorized disclosures of classified information," noting that the investigation "does not itself indicate that any violation has occurred."

and who is behind this?

WASHINGTON - MoveOn.org Civic Action today filed a federal ethics complaint with the U.S. House of Representatives' Office of Congressional Ethics against Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) for "violating the Espionage Act and the Rules of the House by disclosing classified information without the authorization required by House Rules or any other proper authorization."

MoveOn.org Files Federal Ethics Complaint Against Rep. Nunes for Violating Espionage Act, House Rules

MoveOn: Nunes' unauthorized disclosure of classified information for 'blatantly political purposes' … 'implicates the integrity of the House' and its role in oversight. Congress must stop all business and focus on the creation of an independent commission and the appointment of a special prosecutor.

that are one bunch of sorry -------- ! ,...

this just ------ me off to no end, this liberal crap,..

Seems this was known about for a few days now..

The controversy surrounding House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes may just be getting started. Nunes could soon be staring down the barrel of a House Ethics Committee investigation, lawyers familiar with the House's rules tell The Daily Beast.

To add to this pressure, it appears that the chairman may have opened himself up to an ethics investigation by apparently disclosing the existence of a foreign surveillance warrant during a press conference last Tuesday.

Nunes's problem lies in the arcane rules of the House of Representatives. Buried in the rules regarding the House Intelligence Committee is a section that triggers a mandatory investigation into an allegation of spilling classified information.

The trigger could be as simple as a complaint from a single member of the House of Representatives.

But when asked if the information he obtained came from surveillance obtained under FISA, or the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, Nunes replied, "it appears so." He added, "it has to do with FISA, and there are multiple FISA warrants that are out there."

Surveillance authorized by FISA is some of the government's most highly-classified information. To some lawyers, that means there is credible evidence to suggest Nunes did reveal classified information by speaking about FISA surveillance—assuming he doesn't walk the FISA claim back, of course.

"In my humble opinion, yes, Nunes disclosed classified information that day. The existence or non-existence of a FISA warrant is a classified fact. The details from the warrant, namely who got caught up in incidental collection, is a classified fact,"

he was discussing the collection of U.S. persons information, and he mentioned a U.S. person by name: President Donald Trump," said Hennessey.

It would be laughable if this wasn't so serious.. His crime, he mentioned a US persons' by name..

BUT the kicker is this...

Moss told The Daily Beast. "Until we know who gave Nunes the info that night on the White House grounds

Seems the liberals are hell bent on finding that source...

I hope we all take time to call our legislatures and show support for Nunes, and pray for the poor :help: person who was brave enough to wade in the DC swamp and still expose the corruption.

One thing this new smoke signals is there is some real fire blazing under the surface fed by all that swamp gas, and Nunes got way to close. Now they will stop at nothing to burn this guy to ashes.

oh and the latest,.. far left-wing liberal loon,..

Sen. John McCain, the chairman of the powerful Senate Armed Services Committee, said that Nunes must disclose his source. That's something Nunes has said he won't do.

really,.. is McCain that ------ clueless? is his Trump derangement syndrome that bad?

I just heard that Trey Gowdy will have something to do with the Ethics committee. The GOP tried to get rid of the Ethics Committee because they are so biased, but failed to do so. With Gowdy there, at least Nunes won't be railroaded.

Imagine, Democrats having control over an Ethics Committee  ...they have no clue about ethics, if they did they would realize
Nunes did the most ETHICIAL thing possible. He's a hero in a land of corruption. Took real courage to do what he did.

The whole thing is just sickening. :x
And now they filibustered Gorsuch. More sickening things to come, I'm sure. What a bunch of scumbags.

GOP needs to learn how to FIGHT BACK!

They had to get rid of Nunes and they will do the same to anyone that gets too close to uncovering Obama's actions. There is no way they are going to go down without a total implosion of the US government. These people want to force an independent investigation that they can control by stacking it with Liberal sympathizers so they can bury all the info they thought Hillary would destroy once she was elected. Trump needs to clean house and get rid of the Obama holdovers in the Justice and Intel departments or this mess will never end. Arizona needs to smarten up to and get rid of McCain as he is worse than any Dem. I would not doubt they have something very bad on him, he is way to friendly with Soros and the Clintons to be trusted.

Soros will get what he wants and that is to DESTROY THE US if people do not wake up to that billionaire lunatic's plans. Pray that Trump is strong enough to stand up to them as this is getting really dirty really fast. Scary Sh*t is happening and it is not going to get any better unless somebody is taken down and made an example of, I just hope it is not too late. Maybe if Comey had indicted Hillary for mishandling classified info like anyone else would have been this mess would have been nipped in the bud but by allowing her to walk he encouraged the rest to think they could do what ever the hell they wanted to and they would not be held accountable either.

Trump needs to get rid of Comey as he is into this mess up to his 6 foot 8 inch neck and was and is slow walking the investigations as he doesn't want anyone to know what he did to protect Obama and Clinton. As long as he can claim there is an on going investigation he can keep his mouth shut to protect HIMSELF. McCabe also needs to go as he has 700,000 reasons to see to it the Dems don't go down. Nobody from the old Adm can be trusted to clean up this mess and until it is cleaned up government is slowly going to grind to a halt and nothing is going to get done. TIME FOR A GRAND JURY to listen to all the evidence and see which investigation has the footing to go forward as one has A LOT MORE EVIDENCE than the other. The Dems will go for years making claims the evidence does not back up in the Russia probe all while denying Obama did anything wrong by snooping and unmasking names for a year on Trump during the election. This has got to stop or the US is doomed to a civil war. The Left Bias Media is feeding the hate for Trump and not reporting on the actions of the left. Sooner to later it is going to erupt and people are going to start killing each other, especially when you have the Obama AG making videos about blood in the streets and people dying for the cause.

SCARY SH*T My advise is if this doesn't end soon stay out of Big liberal cities as they will not be a safe place for anyone to go.

At least more than one rep. will have seen Obama's dirty laundry now. That isn't good for the dems either.

McCain is very, very scared. And that makes my heart all warm inside.

I'm so mad that Nunes backed down on the Russia probe. He is the only one looking at all the evidence and trying to expose what was really going on. As soon as he got something on the liberal corruption, the Dems push back and he crumbled like a house of cards in a wind storm. Hillary is accused of corruption and is under FBI investigation and she runs for POTUS with full Dem party support. Nunes is accused of ethics issues because he didn't take Schiff to see his whistleblowers evidence and he gives up his work on the intel Russia probe and runs away. When the hell are Republicans going to grow a pair and start pushing back? If they think the Dems are going to stop with Nunes they are friggin kidding themselves, they are just getting started destroying every Republican on that committee. You wait Nunes replacement will be the next to have an ethics charge then Gowdy, count on it they will all have to recuse themselves to keep partisan hack Adam Schiff happy. They are not going to stop until all the Republican stand down, that investigation frames Trump for something he had nothing to do with and government is ground to a complete halt.

Add this, somebody should be charging Adam Schiff with an ethics charge since there is not way he can be bipartisan when he has already been out to the media claiming Susan Rice is nothing more than the Right wings scapegoat. Does anyone really believe he is going to ask Rice any question that will prove she unmasked those names for POLITICAL REASONS? NO he is going to let her walk away lying through her teeth like she does on every subject.

Nunes recusing himself temporarily may have just called checkmate on the dems leaking intelligence.

Word is that now they have to investigate. If Nunes is clean and they say he is, he goes back to business as usual. But... if they prove dems caused leaks, they will hang. And that is what they believe will happen when this all shakes out.

Ryan is still backing Nunes, so that means the globalists have nothing on him.

Watching these people hang themselves is better than any drama.

Session recused himself over the idea he talked to a Russian that the Dems invited to join them at Trump's Joint Session Speech. STUPID

Nunes is now excusing himself from the Russia Investigation like he has something to hide. STUPID

The Republicans have got to get some backbone and stop recusing themselves from doing their damn jobs. The minute the Dems question them they run and hide. STAND UP AND PUSH BACK or the Dems will push them all over a friggin cliff and be high five-ing each other while the Republicans fall to their deaths.

Nunes recused himself this morning and there are already reports the Dems are gunning for his replacement Conaway. This is not going to stop until all the weak kneed Republicans have recused themselves and that Partisan hack Schiff is the only one left standing to run the intel investigation that will end with Trump being framed for something he did not do and Rice is cleared of Snooping on Trump for political benefit. George Soro's Move on .Org is behind these charges and he is not going to stop BET ON IT.

This has GOT TO STOP, the Republicans need to tell the Dems and George Soros to go to hell and keep digging until all the corruption is uprooted and the swamp is finally drained.
They were not elected and give the majority in both House and Senate to recuse themselves when things get tough.

We'll probably see a reason one way or the other before long.

I can see the possibility going any direction. Including just more threats of politicized intel agencies coercing elected government officials.

maybe the liberals should wait a bit before they pat themselves on the back....

Did Nunes Actually Recuse Himself?

The headline in the Washington Post was typical of the media coverage: "House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes recuses himself from Russia probe." But is that what actually happened?

A careful reading of Nunes' statement reveals that he did not use the word "recusal," which is universally understood in government to mean that the person recused will have no dealings whatsoever with a matter under consideration. (Much of the brief statement is consumed by his denouncing "leftwing activist groups" for filing "baseless" charges against him to the Office of Congressional Ethics).

Neither is he stepping down as chairman. What he said was that he will temporarily let fellow committee Republican Mike Conaway (R-TX) lead the Russia investigation, assisted by members Tom Rooney and Trey Gowdy.

It is also noteworthy that HPSCI committee rules contain no provision for recusal or temporary replacement of a chairman.

Given all that we know about the Trump administration and its congressional Republican accomplices, extreme caution should be the order of the day for interpreting Nunes's statement.

Adam Shifty may have thought this ended it, but to name Gowdy as second after Conaway is smart,.. the liberals can knock him off, but then they will deal with an even more determined Rep. Gowdy.
