European Mount

Sorry no pictures yet.

Wondering what the best way was to clean the skull for the European mount. I have a nice 9 point whitetail but the cape went bad on me. The head has been frozen and now I need some help. I don't really have access to the "bugs" that a taxidermist does and I'm too cheap to pay someone to clean the skull for me.

Anyone have some advise?

Well you can just boil it or else bury it in an anthill. If you were closer I could send you an extra buck cape actually your taxidermist should have some on hand.

There is a taxidermy outfit called "Van Dykes", where you can get information and chemicals for cleaning & bleaching the skull.

A few years back, my boys had a couple antelope heads in our freezer that we were going to do european style mounts with. I ordered the necessary supplies from this company, but never found the time to do it. After many months, I just took the frozen heads to a local taxidermist and he did it for us.
