On Friday we gathered 280 pair, and sorted all red cows, red calves, any other off colors, and all selling cows out of the herd. We sorted out over a hundred, and put the cattle in two separate but adjoining pastures. We have no idea how it happened, but evidently a cow rubbed on a gate lever, and a loose keeper on a snap allowed the snap to come over the top wire of a gate. The gate fell to the ground, and the two bunches recongregated. This morning, Saddletramp, Peach Blossom and I re-sorted, and got everything back the way they were. This time, we trailed one bunch for over a mile, so we could get two fences between them.

The weather was beautiful this morning, with very little wind. Even though it was all a repeat from Friday, it was still enjoyable. The cattle and our horses worked quietly and well.
