Tons of speculation about Cool etc. in these posts. I have found the following to be an excellent site. Spend some time reading here.

http://www.nationalaglawcenter.org/readingrooms/cool/

Scroll down for examples of record keeping etc.
You can spend weeks at this site. Lots of interesting cases & information.
Trick is to try to read without bias. Don't just hunt for something that backs your belief! I think this will make for more informed discussions for eveyone.

Thanks for that link, fedup2. Looks very interesting and I'm eager to check it out.

While I haven't yet had time to see much of the site, isn't speculation and discussion about all really we have until final rules are announced and set in stone?

I'll freely admit a bias in favor of voluntary, market driven COOL for marketing purposes and lean toward M-ID for animal health and food safety purposes ONLY.

I like the idea of Cool, but the way this is written, it scares the hell out of me. Looks like they will have all the information for m-id & a lot more!
Check out the records they are proposing and the information they want! Hope I am reading it wrong!

A lot of the old record requirement that USDA was trying to shove down our throat- has been cut out in the new rules passed by the house...Also the fines and penalties for the retailers have been decreased for first offense--and goes more for the repeat offenders...

It appears as tho they have nothing on the House passed rules...

Its a peice of cake when you use the www.scoringag.com recordkeeping system to prove source verification records for COOL whether cattle or produce, including peanuts.Best secure system avaiable.

Thanks Oldtimer. Every site I searched took me to the same government site with this information. I haven't found anything about the proposed changes.
