Thanks NR. That is the sort of info I was looking for.

We are heading for the Hill 70 Quantock sale. Have been going there for years.

I am also heading to the Hill 70 sale, and maybe take a peek at what Oddan's have at Misty Valley.

Bill bought the 5P bull after using him A.I.

Randi, whats the weaning weights like out of those 03L calves?

I don't know if you got the DVD, but H-431 and H-432 are two bulls I am looking at.

Well, hopefully we will see you there. I've never been to Misty Valley.

Average 205 day weights were 579 lbs on 26 calves. Couple of old cows brought it down a bit, but overall we are quite happy with the calves. 10 of the 12 heifers are in our replacement pen.

We did look at the video, but didn't pay a whole lot of attention to the Herefords as we aren't in the market for one this year. We have too many Hereford marked heifers this year, and don't want to breed those ones Hereford. Too much of a price dock here for Hereford calves.

Those 2 bulls have some pretty good #'s behind them, if we were looking for a Hereford, I am sure they would be on our list. The pic in the catalogue of #432 makes him look pretty good to me.

Did the calves reflect their sires weaning weight fairly closely?

Hoping to make it. Depending what the weather is like. If it's -40 like it was this past week, then no.

We were really happy with the calves off the bull from Misty Valley. Increased weaning weights across the board by 50 to 100 lbs. Our average 205 across all calves was about 570 lbs, with a fair number of steers and heifers above that. Only problem is the the bulls are pricier there than other places, due to competing with some big names to buy them, like Douglas Lake Ranch.

His adjusted WW was 736, I find it hard to compare a bulls calves to him as far as WW goes. I do know we saw 25-50 lbs more WW on the cows bred to him, than on some of our other bulls. We had a bit of a wreck in the Community Pasture, which pulled our WW's down on the whole too.

Hopefully your weather straightens out for you.

Fraser's have the soundest set of Hereford cows I've ever had the pleasure of walking through. 5P's mother has a good udder and feet-those cows graze out till calving in latye March and April-poor footed cattle don't cut it under those conditions. I got my Grade One in the cattle business from the Creech's when they were still all under the Quantock name-never bothered going back for Grade Two lol.
