Extreme Left Wingers Praise Dr. Paul

WASHINGTON — Very rarely do you see activists from the anti-war, anti-gun, left-wing Code Pink organization praise a Republican.

But on Thursday, members of the group – best known for interrupting political speeches and events while wearing pink — will make its way to the Capitol Hill office of Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul to thank him for his Wednesday filibuster concerning the Obama administration’s drone policy.

“Meet us @SenRandPaul office, 208 Russell, today 1pm,” the group tweeted Thursday. “Thank him for opposition to #drones. Bring a gift. #standwithrand.”

When enough Americans finally get outraged about this trampling of the constitutional rights of all Americans, I can envision our resident KKK'er (King Koolaid Kultist) OT leading a march on DC to protect that precious Constitution that he worked so hard to protect. We all know he can't stand to be in the minority.

Like I said before- I stand behind Paul, McCain, and Lieberman in believing we badly need a law covering drones and terrorists-- and setting up a procedure and possibly a court for this type authorization...
BUT-
with the current Do Nothing Dysfunctional Partisan Congress I do not see anything happening- so by default the President then may have to act on his own- as best he interprets the law for the good of the country...

As far as Pauls blocking the Brennaman appointment-- I disagree with that...I think the President should have broad leeway in choosing who he chooses to represent him and to be his counselor/administrator-- and that the Senate should only ascertain that the person is qualified for the position (experience/education/knowledge) and not include partisan bickering into game... Same as with Judges.... And they should not be allowed to put the appointments on hold indefinitely- leaving vitally important administrative positions and Judgeships vacant for years... ATF director is a good example...
My belief is that the Senate should have 30 days from the time of appointment to do an up or down vote- and failure to do such vote in time automatically confirms the appointee...If they vote NO- then the President has to appoint someone else....

He is not blocking the confirmation... just delaying it one day.. the vote is scheduled for today..

Paul just made his point in a manner that has gotten the press to look at it and hopefully put some pressure on our rogue administration in halting the speculation of US drone strikes..

there should be no procedure for drone strikes in this country.. there is no valid law enforcement reason to target a citizen with a missile.

as for surveillance,.. a warrant would cover the legality of that...

Why was obama unable to answer the very simple question that Rand Paul was asking?

It appeared to me that it was obama, that "was doing nothing"

Holder: US has no authority to kill Americans with drones on US soil

By Justin Sink - 03/07/13 01:46 PM ET

The U.S. does not have the authority to use a drone attack against a U.S. citizen not engaged in combat on U.S. soil, Attorney General Eric Holder told Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) in a Thursday letter.[/b]

White House press secretary Jay Carney revealed the letter at his Thursday press briefing. It was sent in response to a 13-hour filibuster Paul held on the Senate floor Wednesday to criticize the administration’s drone policy.

“The president has not and would not use drone strikes against American citizens on American soil,” Carney said.

Reading from the Holder letter to Paul, Carney said: "Does the president have the authority to use a weaponized drone to kill an American not engaged in combat on American soil? The answer is no. The answer to that question is no."

Paul said Thursday afternoon that he was dropping his objection to a vote on Brennan as a result of the Holder letter, clearing the path for Brennan's confirmation Thursday.

took long enough. Were they doing nothing, until this morning?

Or maybe they were getting ready to receive that female terrorist at the WH, even though tours for American children have been cancelled.

Look at the waste the obama regime cost on this. First it should have never happened. Their initial drone policy tells so much about this regime. Then it took forever to get an answer of no. But look closer at the post by our resident teabagee. No where does it say Holder say it "unconstitutional" That is what he was asked.

He said there was no authority, does that mean there isn't one until the spender in chief issues an executive order.

Why didn't Buckwheat & DOJ just say this to start with?

Dr. Paul did good in forcing this answer. It might have come back to haunt us one day........................

But the big point was, if he refused to answer this he could refuse to answer almost anything.

I stand with Rand.

So who determines if a person is "not engaged in combat on American soil" The way he condemns fox news and Rush Limbaugh etc they better watch their backsides for drone attacks. Personally I dont want this regime or any of his leftwingernut teabagees deciding who is engaged in combat. Thats like giving them a blank check
