Fall Work

We have been rounding up and will finish all of our prevacc tomorrow. We booster calves 2 weeks pre-weaning, and have found it pays real dividends as we wean calves quite young. Our very oldest calf is 178 days old, and normally we would be weaning this week, but are a tad behind.

Great pictures, enjoyed them. Your calves look nice size for 178 days old and younger.

Thanks for the compliment on the pics. We have been really happy with the SM calves. Other than about 3 later calves, they are pretty well all in the 580-620# range.

They won't be totally done until next spring, but I plan to picture them shortly. We sorted calves off cows for a couple of hours yesterday and then prevacc'ed the calves. It worked SLICK. If it wasn't at least as good as the one we had for nearly 100 years I was going to rip it out and start over. We went with a bud box instead of a tub (I hate crowding tubs and we have always used a bud box type setup. I was pretty happy. Will post pics on a new thread.
