Family reunion

About fifty members of my dad's father's family gathered in Valentine this past week-end for a reunion. It was fun getting together, and we had a busy day Saturday by golfing in the morning and canoeing in the afternoon. This was only the second time in my life that I've gone golfing (the first time was two years ago at our reunion), but I can see how it could possibly become "addictive". After a beautiful afternoon canoe trip down the Niobrara, a steak supper topped off the day. The group dispersed after Sunday morning breakfast. We all enjoyed the get-together very much.

great pics soapweed, good place to have a reunion, the Livermont family had one there last year, the boys and I camped at smith falls. beautiful, cheap, fun, but the second night we added sis to the mix and after much grumping, dog barking, and crying that they missed their dad, I packed up camp at 11pm, had had enough   drove home to actually get some sleep. lol

How deep is that river? I see some of you are standing in the water. It must be awful shallow. Beautiful country, though. Thanks for taking us on the tour.

Shelly, It is only about 10 inches deep in some places, but then since it is sandstone and erodes... you can walk in a place that isn't even up to knees and immediately fall off a cliff underwater and be in over your head in very fast current. It is a great river to canoe, tube, and such, slow enough nothing's scary but fast enough not to bore you and has some beautiful stopping places on the way (like the falls in soapweeds pic)

We are planning a family reunion for this summer including fishing, cowboy golf, hopefully a tour of Turners, music, food, volleyball, wagon rides, and some mountain man cooking. Things we take for granted sound fun to the city family. Most of all it just appeals to us all to get together and enjoy the company.
