Family Tradition

For the past 35 or so years, my family has come "home to the farm" for a potluck dinner and a walk to the woods to see the spring wildflowers. It has become an annual highlight for all of us and few miss the opportunity to come.

This year about 25+ came with a few missing for health reasons. Here are a few pictures of what we saw. (Photos are compliments of our youngest son, J.B.)

O.K. now I'll try to get the captions uploaded, too.

White Trillium - Ontario's official flower.

An unusual wine coloured specimen.

We interrupted someone's Sunday afternoon nap.

A big bone for a little dog! (To the left of the dog's head you can see a left-over moose bone.)

After the walk, the younguns had enough energy for a game of soccer.

The prettiest flower of all, my great-niece, with Cassie, my daughter's Cavalier King Charles Spaniel..

Faster Horses, I would be very happy to have you here to see our corner of the world!

If you look closely above the tip of the white trillium flower, you can see a little blue violet or two.

If you were at Exeter(Esther?) you were less than an hour from our place. If you were on the 401(410?) to Toronto, you were lucky to arrive alive! Because that strip of asphalt is the craziest, busiest stretch of road in Canada. Not to mention with some of the most ignorant, dangerous drivers in the world. Well maybe Montreal should claim that title!

Man, you put a lot of miles on. Home would look good. I felt the same when we travelled to the west coast a couple of times.

But we do live in one of the best, richest countries in the world, thank God for that. How often do we remember to stop and thank Him for that?
