Farm Bill

Looking for some help.
Im trying to find out information about the Farm Bill and what will happen if it is not passed. Will it just revert back to the old Farm Bill?

Also heres a question for you patriotic Americans. I am from England, Ive spent a while working around in different countries on farms and ranches. I especially like the North American way of ranching and one day I hope to live and work out here. I am currently going to school in OK getting a degree in Animal Science. My question is how willing would any of you be to employ a person such as me? Im sure you all would prefer to employ an American and I think thats right, but if you had a vacancy and I could fill it, would any of you be willing to employ me?

Stephen, most people hiring someone want someone dedicated, loyal, and hard working. If you fill that bill then someone will hire you. I guarantee it. If you hire on then bad mouth the outfit you hired in to or if you are using the new position as a stepping stone or if you are lazy, you won't last long. Your nationality won't matter as much as your effort.

Stephen, our biggest problem here is that we can find someone who knows what they are doing. If you are qualified for the position most employers would not hesitate to hire you. Loyalty is always a plus but with our short fall of employees we would take competent and puntual.

Where in Southern Alberta are you? I have spent quite a while working up there near Pincher Creek.
What sector are you saying is lacking employees? I know over there in Lethbridge theres all those feedlots, how about just out on ranches?

We are near Picture Butte (north of Lethbridge). Everybody is looking for employees! You see signs in the windows at the majority of buisnesses in Lethbridge and surrounding communities. My husband runs a pivot setup crew in the off season and he hasn't had more than 1 guy helping him since early 06. It's pretty hard to stand up a pivot with 2 guys! They have advertized for help wanted with no luck for months. If they do find a guy who wants to work he's usually a big slacker and only wants 1 paycheck then he's never heard from again. If you have training in something you are almost garaunteed to find work. Heck even the fast food places are offering benefits to their employees to try and get people. Every 3rd commercial on tv or the radio is someplace looking for employees. As for the feedlots they are always hiring. Mostly hear they need more pencheckers but I hear they are looking for vet techs too. A good hired man/woman is hard to find.

This is all true,Albertas booming from oil and gas and theres a huge lack of workforce out there,Nova Scotia and Newfoundland now live in Alta. theres virtually no housing,if you want a job at a feedlot theres lots out there and alot of them are providing housing...was looking through the western Producer,a Sask. based ag mag...and there were quite a few ranch jobs both in Alta. and Sask.
