Federal judge throws out Obama drilling rules

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) -- A judge on Friday threw out Obama administration rules that sought to slow down expedited environmental review of oil and gas drilling on federal land.

U.S. District Judge Nancy Freudenthal ruled in favor of a petroleum industry group, the Western Energy Alliance, in its lawsuit against the federal government, including Interior Secretary Ken Salazar.

The ruling reinstates Bush-era expedited oil and gas drilling under provisions called categorical exclusions on federal lands nationwide, Freudenthal said.

That's good to keep track of, because someday there's going to be an oil boom in the U.S.A. after the price gets higher and we're going to screw the Middle East countries we're getting oil from now.

That is kind of ironic being as how Nancy Freudenthal's husband is the most recent democratic governor of Wyoming. I didnt always agree with her husband but he did have a pretty good idea of what was good for his state.

1% doesn't seem like much, I guess, but isn't that about the same as "green energy" accounts for at present?

The E.P.A. estimates that a rule on air toxins and mercury that it expects to complete in November will result in a loss of 10,000 megawatts — or almost 1 percent of the generating capacity in the United States. Electricity experts, however, say that rule, combined with forthcoming ones on coal ash and cooling water, will have a much greater effect — from 48,000 megawatts to 80,000 megawatts, or 3.5 to 7 percent.

WOW this was not a good day for Obama in the Courts. Two strike outs I wish a judge would have been looking at his birth certificate today. THE THIRD STRIKE AND HE"D BE OUT OUT OF THERE. :wink:

over the last years we have had alot more brownouts/blackouts then normal..

storms caused a few, some lasting over a week.. and they EPA is still fighting to close Beasley's point plant..

their troubles are two fold. They are an old coal fired plant, and a few years back they participated in a EPA pilot program to burn scrapped tires..

then out of the blue.. the EPA shut them down..

the plant has been sold several times over the last few years in an effort to skirt shutdown.. some old rule about getting two years to come into compliance.. a loophole now closed.

we know in reality it may never be in compliance.. but we also know with out it, we will be dark alot more..

and we have no other option other then personnel generators.. I have an old airco welder/generator and a new chinese made model.

I would say about everyone I know has one..

so how much will that add to pollution with all these little generators running.


BTW any one got a schematic for an old Airco AC wasp II-E 225?
