Fasterhorses,if Im down south and on the run,I have sewed em up with dental floss holds good and if you aint there to cut the stiches it will cut thru or break pretty easy,I dont like to do it but some times when you are spread thin, have no choice, this old girl would be in bad shape if some was not there to cut stiches at the right time ,used 1/4" imbillical tape..........so now I know how nite calvers feel, she better hurry is all I hafta say, talk to yall this evening got chores in town..............good luck

I use a BLR .243-the vet said don't do that on uterine prolapses as they aren't hereditary-I said with my method I'm damn sure they aren't. Only had to do it a couple times over the years and I don't think either cow would of made it to the clinic.

Haymaker- well I'm starting to feel like an old nursemaid... I'm paying the price of the high calf prices and keeping some of these old swingbags one more year.....I got 2 of their calves in there now I'm feeding- altho the first one I'm going to turn back out pretty soon- mom finally started providing the little fellow with milk....Hopefully this other one can get started too and raise this one last calf...Looked in the book and she's 14- should have been gone a couple years ago if it wasn't for the Canadians giving us such good calf prices  ........
