I had one heck of nice couple of days. Friday morning loaded up the trailer with a load of cull cows to go over to Bear Paw Livestock in chinook. i turned off highway 2 to the stockyards and saw one of my best friends that i hadn't seen in a few years rolling out of there in their big old fancy truck and ended up meeting back at the stockyards. then a couple of other old friends showed up while we were visiting and it just happened to be one of the guys' birthdays so we thought maybe we'd just make a day of hanging out together. All four of us ended up helping ken overcast move his cows off the milk back up north of chinook on battle creek about 7 miles south of the canadian line to one of the friends place that was leasing the cows (lance). we had a good time dinking around with the cows and reminiscing all day and it got dark so lance invited us in for dinner and his birthday party with his wife and 6 kids. it was the neatest thing. those kids didn't have a tv only vcr and lived 30 miles from nowhere and were the most well behaved little guys i have ever seen. we sat down at the table and the kids took turns sitting on daddy's lap cause that was the highlight of their day - it about made me cry. they all handed him home made birthday presents all taped up so tight he had to cut them open with his pocket knife. it was awesome. his oldest daughter Faith was one of the neatest young ladies I have ever met. she ran the kitchen that night and it reminded me so much of how families were when i was a kid. anyhow - her dad lance is one of the best fiddlers i've ever heard but i think his daughter faith is going to be pretty special. before we left she gave me a signed copy of her cd album... her very first one and she is 11 years old. ken overcast helped her put it together and it is pretty darn cool. she performs every now and then so if you ever get a chance to see her - do it. i wish you guys could hear it - maybe i'll see if ken can put it up on his website. anyhow - i ended up spending the night just out of chinook with these four guys - all of us married with a wife and kids at home, telling stories, laughing, and listening to lance play until the sun came up. it was great.

I hope your wife was understanding when you finally got home. :p

Seriously, that kind of thing just doesn't happen enough any more.
We have all these things to help us save time, and what do we do
with the time?????? I often wonder about that.

Ken Overcast. Excellent entertainer. Has his own radio show.
They run it on Sturgis Radio...KBHB, 810. Cowboy Corner I think it
is...and they had him here in Baker in person at our Ag Day two years in a row.
Then the new County Agent did away with our "Ag Day" as
he said wasn't in charge of finding entertainment... :x

Oh, he found plenty of things to spend money on...like
tying the Health Fair to Ag Day.

I thought getting entertainment was better.
We're off the beaten path so it was nice to have some
ENTERTAINMENT. The Health Fair here gets a lot of participation
regardless.

Oh well.

I can relate to this....
This summer some gals got together to go to our local town. We were going to have lunch and some local shopping.... Be home early type of deal... I'm the last to be picked up and it had rained so the girls come slipping and sliding into the yard with a .... Well it was a little car under all that mud...... And we had twenty more miles of mud roads so I say girls let's take my rig..... They say oh yes........ But it's in the shed and we have to move about three things... I assign vehicles to what I though was their driving skills.... My best friend the pay loader, another friend the tractor and I give the least talented I thought the rig we would take and we all preceded to back out and then put back all the vehicles..... Done deal we got along fine.... Had to direct only one gal out and then we went to town... Had lunch.... Talked and talked and talked..... They switched servers on us........... No big deal........ Looked up and it was 5p.m. Yeah the night help for the restaurant was there.... So we decide we had better go.... To late for errands. Get on the street and we meet more friends... We talk some more they say let go to another restaurant and we do.... We talk, laugh, cry, more stories... I look up and it's ten p.m. Holy heavens no wonder I'm starved.. So we ask about some food and the owner says they don't cook on this night, but he says that he can get pizza hut to deliver and also gives us ideas on what to order so we do.... Sure enough twenty minutes later a little boy brings our pizza and says Hi Mrs. Katrina....It was one of carters wrestling friends..... Okay I'm embarrassed cuz it's late and I've just been busted by one carter's friends... Midnight we come dragging out butts back home.... What a fun day..... My stomach hurt from laughing so much and I couldn't keep from smiling..... So I know how things can go unendtentally...

Is that Nebraskan? Cantonese? Polish? :p :D

Yeah Katrina....what exactly is the definition of that word??

Since you guys give me soooooo much sh** about my spelling, I've been doing what Liberty Belle does.... But my spell check had no idea what the word was... So after several tries I gave up...... I've got things to do......
It's the story guys....... Sheeese......

well - in reality we are all pretty whiped... we all had "permission".
i don't know - it was a blast and it was cheap entertainment and darn it I miss those guys. the best part of it was that is reminded us that we need to get together more often with our families no matter how hard it seems to get away.
