Finally . . .

Today we had our first set of living twins in at least three years. The cow is taking care of both and they seem to really like their momma! So this time it's all good.

This is the fourth pair we've had this spring, but the first live pair.

I'm glad you are having success with these. Here I love twins - - - I can't remember the last one I had trouble with. I guess it is because it is farther south and I keep a great mineral program year round- - - I had the last set of twins last week and they were out of a hiefer so I kept her and a 7 year old that calved the same day together with the three calves in a three acre lot for about 5 days till the three calves were nursing from both cows then turned them with the other cows with calves today. I was afraid the hiefer would not have enough milk but it seems she is coming along good now.

They are great when they live. We used to have Simmentals and twins were also common with them. We seemed to have better luck getting 2 live calves with that herd.
