Mitch McConnell said it well earlier. Democrats didn't oppose Gorsuch's nomination as much as they oppose the man who nominated him.

I am so happy the GOP didn't back down on confirming Gorsuch. Maybe GOP will find out winning isn't so bad after all. Especially when they had to fight to get it done and done right. Gorsuch's confirmation is a relief.

It was obvious that Senate Democrats would not have confirmed ANY Supreme Court nominee named by Donald Trump simply because they are still pouting, sulking and throwing temper tantrums over losing the 2016 election. Consequently, Senate Republicans were forced to make a rule change yesterday to allow for a majority vote to confirm a Supreme Court nominee as opposed to the 60% vote that was required. Democrats upset over the rule change need to recall that only a few years ago, then Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, a Democrat, made a rule change that allowed all lower court appointees to be confirmed by a majority vote instead of 60%. Republicans just followed the precedent set by the Democrats.

The Senate confirmed Judge Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court on Friday, filling the critical ninth seat that has been vacant for over a year and capping a tumultuous debate that saw Republicans overhaul the way the chamber operates in order to overcome what they described as an unprecedented Democratic filibuster.

The 54-45 vote is expected to restore a 5-4 conservative tilt on the bench. Once sworn in, Gorsuch will join the court and begin to hear cases, in the seat once held by the late Justice Antonin Scalia, who died in February 2016.

“He’s going to make the American people proud,” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said.

This vote proved the Dems are willing to cut their nose off to spite their face. If they had bit the bullet and vote to confirm Gorsuch they would have lived to fight another day. But they stood ignorantly strong and now they have NO say in the next vote. If one of the liberal justices goes down as in retire or die the Republicans will be able to put thee most conservative YOUNG Justice ever on and the Dems will have to sit back and take it as they pushed the Republicans on this vote. But it serves them right as their hate for Trump and the fact they lost the election, blinded them so bad they could not see the future effects of their LEFT WING STUPIDITY.

If Joe Biden had not stood in front of the Senate and preached about how Bush should not nominate a Justice in an election year and if he did the Senate should not grant the nominee a hearing this whole mess could and like would have been avoided as the Republicans would have given Merrit Garland a hearing. If Harry Reid had not charge the Senate rules to get Obama's lower court Justices and Appointees confirmed without a 60 vote, the Republicans would not have take the step to drop the rules that allowed the Gorsuch's confirmation. SO it is time for the Dems to realize NO MORE DO AS I SAY NOT AS I DO. crap you want to make rules and change rules you better be ready to live with the effects.

I'm just glad the Senate stood behind McConnell and voted to do what needed to be done. I feared that idiots like Susan Collins would revolt the change and vote with the Dems. as she has done on other votes.
