Today- I was at a friends place who was having his Grandson clean out a back storage room-- and he came across 3 gallon bottles of homemade chokecherry wine- that were labeled with a piece of tape "bottled in Aug 1991".... Everyone thought they would be bad- but after popping the cork- it took only one sniff to tell they were still good-- and plumb sweet and smooth enough to be used as pancake syrup...
Brought back some old memories- of years of picking washtubs of chokecherries every year- so my mother could put up syrup, jelly, and of course a little wine....
Several glasses later- and I'm not blind yet- so must have been OK...Several of those younger guys that had never tasted homemade chokecherry wine couldn't believe how good it was.....
