Got a call from a neighbor around 12:20 this afternoon, to let us know our firefighting equipment will probably be needed. sw and I had plans to get all that stuff out and checked and filled up with water and ready to go...got a call around 2:45 to COME HELP!!! Their house and buildings were in danger...she was absolutely right, here's our trip to and the fire danger when we got there...very scarey...

Saw 2 bull elk in velvet, and a cow

Got there, the smoke was getting thicker and more black. It came out of the trees to a meadow which was a buffer zone between the trees and the house/buildings. This was a good thing, thought we could take a stand at the fireline which was built just below the trees (fire jumped) and another one built in the middle of the meadow. We won. This time. Fires are so unpredictable and scarey. I'm glad our neighbors have their home and buildings saved. The smoke was sooo thick it was hard to breathe let alone see anything, and hard to see with eyes watering.

Some more scarey pics

This pic was taken right next to the house. Fire tooooooo close for my comfort!!! I didn't get pics of the fire coming toward the house, too busy trying to protect it, that would have been a real scary awesome picture.

Here are some of the troops helping to fight the fire

We took a stand at the firelines around the house/buildings and won this time, the winds have changed and are heading our way
