Just a few of rounding up the calves to be sorted. Swathgrazing still working well but I sure don't need a big wind or blizzard.

Going is tough enough but if it is there they will go after it no matter how deep the snow gets.

Moving them out.

Gee Mister, where were the REAL cowboys?

Thanks Per, goes to show that any class of cattle can be handled with any mount as long as the drover's brains are in the right place.

Per, good job!

Calves look good!

What is in the windrows and it looks like you are rationing out with a hot wire, is that right ?

Oats, barley and some millet. Also a coulee, headlands and rye stubble.

I could and should be rationing it out with hot wire but the deep snow was doing such a good job and the calves have stayed in a fairly tight mob it was unnecessary. I read an article about training cattle to stay in a mob not too long ago and started observing mine. It appears once again by default I am onside with the author. Who knew. :?

Per, would you mind sharing the article? I am interested in that. Thanks
Ha ha Gomez I had to go back through my browser about 10 days. I felt like I was snooping on myself. Note to self, do some computer maintenance some day.

I think this is the place, I am not sure how I got there and if for sure this is what you are looking for. If not if could have been on paper somewhere.

If you scroll down the page the article"Why we do things" is a good one also.

Didn't somebody post a link to this page as it's the last thing I book marked? :?

It could have come from here. Too much input sometimes is overwhelming and retention becomes slim. Gomez, no worries it was kind of nice to revisit it anyway.
