Atheists and agnostics, Jews and Mormons are among the highest-scoring groups on a new survey of religious knowledge, outperforming evangelical Protestants, mainline Protestants and Catholics on questions about the core teachings, history and leading figures of major world religions.

There is a big difference between Biblical and religious. How so?this was a religious knowledge survey Should you not have knowledge of the faith that you claim.

There is a big difference between Biblical and religious. How so?

There are many "traditions" that 'religions" follow that are NOT in the Bible, you can be a Biblical Scholar, as your title suggests:

For all the Biblical scholars here

and not have knowledge of religious traditions.

Here is an easy example most everyone would know:
Christmas is a religious tradition practiced by many to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Christmas is not in the Bible. although the celebration of Jesus's birth and the wise men bringing gifts to Jesus is. This somehow over time became a religious tradition to become what we recognize now as Christmas, giving of gifts, decorating a tree, etc.etc. etc. But it's Not in the Bible.

"Should you not have knowledge of the faith that you claim"
All the knowledge you need to know to be a Christian is found in the Bible,
that is all the knowledge you need to have Faith in Jesus Christ.
"religious traditions" require worldly knowledge.
If you would have titled you topic "for all the Religious scholars here"
It would have been more accurate.
You can read your Bible and believe in Jesus as your personal savior, and have absolutly no knowledge what the difference is between the beliefs of Mormons, Babtist, Penecostals,Muslims, Jehove Wittness's, Budist's etc. (all these are religions)

Hope this helps! :D

Guess you can get by with that because you are a moderator EH kolo

Wait are you the mod, or moderator, makes no difference

DID you read this or write it>Some of you seem to have forgotten about this fairly simple request from Macon:

Lately, a small number of posters seem to be more interested in discussing other posters than discussing politics. The personal attacks and vulgar insults are getting out of hand and are turning several posters away. If we have to sacrifice the troublemakers to prevent that from happening, that's what we'll do. Consequently, a couple of you have made it onto the short list to join Pig Farmer unless you change your ways.

Let's try to respect Macon's request to keep it more about the politics.

weak understanding of the other great world religions like Buddhism and Islam.

The survey questions addressed basic knowledge from all world religions such as being able to identify the Dalai Lama with Buddhism, Indonesia as the country with the largest number of Muslims, and Martin Luther as the 16th Century reformer whose actions led to the formation of Protestantism.

since the site is down it is hard to see the actual article.. but the survey sounds as if it covered alot of religions.. and religious beliefs.. a person could easily have a good understanding of his religion and beliefs and not give a darn about how or what muslims believe..

That might be-

"Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces.
