GM is trying to make me buy a Toyota - and they are succeeding!!!
I drive a 2006 Cadillac DTS. This car has been a real money pit with all sorts of problems which should neveer happen, Like a brake failure at 40,000 miles. ( I had to pay since brakes are consumable.)
Or a message that the tire pressure monitor needs servicing. Took car in, said it would cost $110 but car needed tires so they didn't do it. Tires are good for another 20,000 miles.
Then it developed a flicker in the headlights. Couldn't diagnose it unless it quit - which it did yesterday. Seems like they have special headlight which operate on 40,000 volts and the ballast was bad. Cost was $579 which included $200 labor. Seems that you have to remove the front bumper to fix a headlight. WHAT ARE THE IDIOTS AT GM THINKING.
Also, the car has what they call stabilitrak which applies the brake on one front wheel if it is slipping. The brake comes on sometimes when driving straight down a dry highway. How safe is that? Dealer says they can't do a thing unless the warning light comes on - which it didn't.
This car preumably is as good as they get in the USA. That is scary.
Toyota may have a problem, but GM certainly does - and more so.
And its not just GM. To rebuild an engine in a Ford pickup, it is nesessary to remove the truck cab.
What the hell are they thinking.
