With the sun shining- and temp hitting 33 I wanted to get out the 4 wheeler that I have garaged in the old bunk house...Took a little shoveling with the scoop shovel to get into it..

Looks about like home. At least you got a thaw. It hasn't warmed up enough to crust the snow since it started snowing back the first part of December. Dang snow is going to wear itself out blowing back and forth over and over again.

OT first you sent the snow and now the weather liars say we are supposed to get your bitter cold. Please stop sharing this nasty weather :D . I was more than happy having a mild winter with little snow.

heard on the radio yesterday that 4 out of 5 people believe thier dog can predict the weather better than the weather man by the way they act when the weather changes.

Well after the blizzard that hit us last night- you'd never know it was the same yard-- and it makes you feel like a days work was in vain... 4-5-6 inches of new snow (who knows its all in drifts)- and 25-40mph east winds can sure wipe out a lot of snow clearing fast...

Had to use a scoop shovel to get into the barn (one door had blown open in the night so had to shovel out a 2 foot drift IN the barn) and to the water tanks this morning....

Major portion of the Highways east of Havre/Billings line are emergency travel only- and the Sheriffs Office is advising no travel... Winds have gone down now-- but the snow is still falling  :( ....

heavy snowfall warning here last night only got 4 " though. The storm must of went south. I didnt hear what the Cypress Hills got but I imagine it similar to you oldtimer as that was the direction of travel for the storm.

Yeah elwapo-- today turned into a beautiful day if it wasn't for all the drifts...Wind went down and the sun even came out for a little while... My cousin came in with his big John Deere loader on his way to feed his cows- and plowed out our road (some big drifts) and then after feeding plowed a one track trail thru the county road so Grandma and the neighbors could make it to town to attend the Bridal Shower of the neighbor girl up the road...County came thru later in the day and got the road blew out good....

Now they are predicting another front coming down from the north tommorrow-- just clipping NE MT and hitting mostly ND...No snow but strong NW winds to blow everything in again...

As long as I can keep open to get to the bales and cows- there isn't much more I need to (or can) do.... Kind of just in a survivalist existence mode now.. Not getting none of my planned winter projects done....

Well I hope it stay's away as I'll make the Home to Gledive back home 1000 mile marathon tomorrow. If I were smart I'd leave right now.But I better get a little sleep first.

Well I just looked- 10PM- and the Wibaux area is getting gusts to 38mph-- and parts of ND are getting wind...
Nothing like the 60mph gusts some of the places on the east front of the Rockies are getting- but with the 6" or better of new snow we have-- it doesn't take much to sock everything in....

Scarey out there- according to the Weather Service site- everywhere around us is having blowing-- but down here on the Milk, my flag is still hanging straight down.....
I wouldn't mind missing the warm air coming in- if the wind missed us too..

Well the wind got here during the night... 25-30 mph winds gusting as high as 45...Ground drifting bad... He!! of a time getting around feeding this morning- but no use plowing as this stuff is predicted to stay all night into the morning....
I see some areas of the state west of us are reporting 60 mph winds/gusts...
Not looking forward to morning....

Lots of snow here. Up to the fuel tank on the 4240. The heifers bugged off out of the swath grazing and headed back out to the prairie. I blew up a hard hydraulic return line yesterday when taking hay over to them and had to leave the tractor at a neighbours. JD was closed by then. This morning at 3 I woke up to 50mph winds and a feeling of nauseousness. Thankfully, yesterday was the first warm day in a long time and settled the snow. I had visions of drifts 10 feet high and no way to get out of the driveway to get my part Monday morning, with heifers 2 miles away and feeder calves needing fed.
Still windy and a Ultra-balmy 35F this morning.

Warmed up to 44 here yesterday. Melted most of the snow, now if it would only get the ice gone.
Froze again last night and is cold today too.

Those ice cleats are sure coming in handy.

Well I made it back left at 4:30 am and got back at 2:30 am spent an hour in Dickenson talking with a guy. About 45 minutes in Glendive and a hour or two sleeping 20 miles west of Fargo.Sure did'nt set any speed records.

I bet there were 20 semis in the ditch along the way some were just stuck real good and a couple were totaled out. The wind was something else early in the morning From Valley City to Jamestown. I94 thru the Badlands was glare ice.
