A big Thank You
Local Veteran talked yesterday, he had just gotten back from a Honor flight to Washington DC to see the WWII Memorial. He was on a supply ship off Iwojima, he was with a signalman and they had a long glass and watched the flag raise there from his ship. He told of the sea being red from the blood of our marines and soldiers trying to make a landing. He said the Japanese had caves with heavy doors inside, were big guns that fired at the battle ships. The Japanese had their whole families in the caves, when the doors opened our only option was to use flamethrowers, our soldiers had to listen to the horror of the scream of the women and children being burn to death. But had to do it to so we could get our men on shore and protect our ships.
