I get to very much disliking the short days this time of year. We can do things outside from about 6:30 AM to around 5 PM or so here right now. And in a month you can take a little more off that.

How short are the days way up north right now, and how short do they get by the time they turn around again late next month? (Northern Rancher, Silver, etc.)

Where we are - which is 2 hours south of Northern - there isn't good enough light for hunting and such right now until 6:30-7:00 a.m. In the evenings, it's just as dark by 5-5:30. But, we're also on 'Daylight Savings Time' right now - which is a crock if you ask me. So, it's actually like dark until 8a.m., and sunset @ 6p.m., if you were to turn the clocks forward 1 hour where they should be.

Confusing enough for ya? :p

Similarly, 8 am and 5:30/6pm is the period in which we have some decent light to work in. Ah well. 6 weeks and the days start getting longer again.

For every day forward now, we lose 4 minutes of light per day. Sun rises roughly 2 minutes later every day and sets 2 minutes earlier.

Hmmm, haven't actually been paying alot of attention, but I guess 7:30 - 8am sunrise, and sundown by 6. The days gonna git a whole bunch shorter before its over though :(

Well I always like to look to the bright side this time of year. The shortest day is only a little over a month away and then they get longer again!

There is enough daylight to shoot here at 6:30 this week and it is too dark to shoot after 6PM.

No sense in going out to do anything before 8 a.m., and quitting time is around 5:30 p.m. Soon, though, it'll be getting light by 8:30 and dark by 5:00.

Sunrise today was 8:28, sunset at 5:06. By Dec. 21 sunrise will be around 9:30 and sunset around 4:00. Then I will be able to actually work sunup to sundown.
