For the women who do the painting

Do you have a room that needs painting? We do and usually I choose a color poorly. It currently it is a mishmash which makes it difficult finding colors that work together. I visited internet sites for about 5 paint companies and found Behr.com has the best interactive site, really amazingly well done, where you choose a color and it automatically gives you two colors that blend with yours, taking the guess work out of the equation. Then you can lighten or deepen them, warm them up or cool them down. Then they give you a room and you can try out the colors on the walls, trim, ceiling etc. for different types of rooms.
It will almost make you want to find a room to paint

I usually try to carry the dominant color in one room into another room. Whether that be with paint or material. Now that I have painted the "log walls" in my entry hall and living room that doesn't work too well. I'm still debating on what color to paint the kitchen.

I've read that helps the "flow" of the house.
But ... usually I get bored after doing a whole room and want to try something different.
Didn't you have a red kitchen? Thought you'd just painted it recently.

Nope my kitchen walls are white. I'd talked about paintin it red. Then decided on a beige........still haven't actually bought any paint....I'm still debating LOL

Beige is scarey. Over Christmas I asked our daughter and daughter in law what color I should paint the bedroom. They both picked beige. Ugh. It seems too dreary. So I'm trying to find something happier. Fortunately Mr. nr will just go along since I'm doing the painting!
Good grief its after midnight already.

So much of the time Beige looks pink to me....and I don't like that color of beige. And it's like you can't tell when your in the store what it really looks like...then you get home with it...put it on the walls....looks great while it's wet...then it dries...and looks pink!!!

We used to tease Mom about always making a room look like beige face powder.

Do you see the background color of
this page-------------------------------------->
that's the color they suggested for the bedroom wall. I just can't see waking up to that everyday. It'd look like a dust storm moved in!
Well, time for me to go to bed- lots of sanding to do tomorrow. Nightie Night.

The only time I ever paint is when I get new flooring...I'm such a sloppy painter that it's easier to move out the whole room..slop on paint..then put down a new floor...werks for me! I hate to paint

Lilly...I think with your cute taste in decorating you could make a really awesome kitchen with red paint!

I"m the painter in the house because Mr Lilly paints like Jassy does :p and I don't wanna clean up the mess. I can paint all day and never get any on the floor or myself. Him......he's wearin half of it in the amount of time it takes to get the paint in the roller tray and get the roller in it. :?

Well, despite all I said about beige, we decided to go with beige as the girls suggested. But in a lighter shade. We have a bedspread crocheted by my grandma which I've wanted to use. I have most of the walls painted now and I should have used the darker shade as they, with their expertise, had suggested/ :? :( Now the room will be like stepping into a bowl of oatmeal. Why do I always think I know best    :???:

The up side is it looks verrrrrrry clean. Clean oatmeal. LOL

Your ideas will help it along. We do have an antique shawl which was hubby's grandmother's or great grandmother's- in a deep red. It is very fragile so would have to be hung and there isn't much wall space so I don't know.. .
Mr. nr did something interesting. He likes to wire things and decided to put small lights on the underside of the bureau which shines only on the rug so when one of us stumbles to bed late we can see without the light hitting the other person square in the eyes. It gives the room a slightly dreamy look.

It was 70 degrees here today- perfect painting weather but so weird for January!

I love the sound of that red shawl...do you have a rocker you could put in the room and drape the shawl over?If not you can buy one....they have awesome antique replicas.
However you go,post pictures. Decorating is on the top of my favorite things.

I love "Flip This House" on A&E...I wish I could do that but in Alta. the housing markets so crazy that people don't care what the houses even look like they just buy...isn't worth fixing a house. :(
