Econ, not sure what you mean by saying "the policies you support will only make "aggies" pay less", but isn't it obvious, even to you, that if we are 20% of the population, with 20% of the income, and pay 60% of the taxes......we SHOULD be paying less of the taxes than we are, shouldn't we?????
Real reason for this post is that I failed to mention the fact that, along with more 'sportsmen' purchasing ag land, we also have the push to turn this back into a "Buffalo Commons" so far by default, rather than outright government edict. My problem with that is it that while it appears there is some private money behind it, the government/foundation money funding that effort is troubling.
A correction: While we do have a lot of private land, there is considerable land owned by various government entities, with more being purchased right along, especially by the Game, Fish & Parks, which really is accountable to no one. Then there is Ted Turner with his buffalo/wildlife ranches. Not sure of his total acreage here, but he does own a significant percentage of the land in Jones County, one of our smaller counties, as well as owning land in several other counties and states.
AB, thanks for the welcome and comment. I try to keep to the subject of the headings, and will probably post on Bull Session most often, and try to keep the politics on this section. Probably wouldn't be on either one except for my first bronchitis/sinusitus malady of the season. Not much energy for work, and the weather is so nice out it is killing me not to get some fall clean-up and landscaping done!!!!
