Four Democratic senators want to delay cap and trade bill

Four Democratic senators want to put off the proposed cap & trade legislation. Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas, Ben Nelson of Nebraska and Byron Dorgan and Kent Conrad both of North Dakota are urging the Senate to delay legislation that puts caps on greenhouse gas emissions and instead, pass a narrow bill that sets requirements on the use of renewable energy.

Senators Lincoln and Dorgan are up for re-election in 2010 and are from states that would be hurt economically from a cap and trade bill similar to the one passed by the House in June.

I'm not so sure about tester FH-
baucus is bought and paid for but tester as a first termer is still listening a little bit to the people- he is not a shooin fir 2012-
look at the first bailout, he and reberg both voted No, tester was definatly crossing the party lineup there, I'm sure with their permission, they gave him a bye on that one.
I've read several places that cap & trade is dead.
obama's bet too much on stimulus annd healthcare.
people are wising up fast - they rammmed way to much way to fast.

Ok, LC, I take that back about Tester.
I've been gone from Montana for a time. Thanks for the
correction. It's just that I know folks who neighbor him and
they have not one good word to say about him. But perhaps
politics is different than ranching...but I think not...you are who
you are. But I'll give him this one.

I agree with you on Tester Lonecowboy...Never been a Baucus fan....

One thing to remember tho on the Long Term Energy & Enviromental Bill---if we don't get some Congressionally passed long term direction- much of the standards will be instituted thru the EPA ACT of 1969 -and the Courts....There are already several court rulings that the courts have agreed to put on hold until the direction can be better layed out- but if nothing is done they will follow thru and put into place the EPA set standards.....

I'd just as soon have Congress setting the rules- than enviromental bureaucrats of the EPA saying what the standards should be- and the courts then legislating them in the subsequent lawsuits....

The key here is that they want to "put it off", in other words delay.

They are getting worried about re-election.

Democrats are starting to notice that the protesters are not just "astroturf", but are angry with not only Health Care reform, but the Stimulus, Cap and Trade, Bailouts etc.

Alright OT- we agree on something- there are probably going to be more things as time goes on and the truth comes out about some of these politicians!

Has the EPA ever been taken to the SCOTUS to see if it is Constitutional??Why should we be scared of a branch of our Government.
That to me sounds like terrorism. These are NOT elected officials, anything that they charge us IS TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION
