Four D's Angus Bulls

I saw this on Facebook the other day Tom-- but been too busy with the snowstorms- mud- sick calves to respond... That GFAR Birch 834 you got from Gary has an interesting pedigree...
I liked your comment:

GFAR Birch 834: Purchased from Gary Funk Angus. Moderate balanced females with sensible milk.
He was purchased as a female maker and looks like I got a carcass maker also.

Because I'm a believer that with the right bloodlines you can have some moderate very good females- and still have cattle that can put on pounds with good carcass results...Gary had a nice looking herd of cows up there last time I looked at them.....

I heard yesterday that there is about a trailer load or so of strong Diamond D- Ohlde bred one iron yearling heifers selling at the Glasgow Salesyard on Thursday... I found out yesterday they are Jeff Swansons- that Iva bought- and is going to turn around and resell ( and probably make a quick profit on them)....
I think before the next snow storm (now they are saying Thursday night)- or the river gets over our road- I'm going to haul some of the old cows that lost calves to the sale while the cull cow market is still pretty hot.......

OT, are you talking that these heifers selling this Thursday? Bull 021 dam is from Diamond D angus. Just a beautiful cow, perfect udder. 021 is probably a 5 frame bull. Very interesting listening to comments on the bulls from those that have looked. I am fortune enough that I can have many different breeding pastures. I do like to keep heifers using moderate framed bulls, yet moderate framed bulls seems to be a little harder to sell so haven't kept as many. Regardless if some of them have a little more growth, because they are black, someone will keep replacements from them. So I have tried to emphasis teat and udder qualtiy and fleshing ability in all cattle.

Advertised on the Glasgow Stockyards web site:
80 Black Replacement Heifers

Yep- Iva gave Jeff a good price that he is happy with when she bought them just a short time ago- but she is a cattle trader and I know with a few phone calls and a little advertising-- she's taken advantage of the demand some folks are putting back into the "more maternal" angus genetics-- and has folks out there with bids of at least $50 a head over what she payed for them.... But if I was a betting man- I'd bet with the green grass looking for this spring- they may go $100 over what she paid... (And don't get me wrong- I love Iva (another neighbor)- and Glasgow Stockyards- and they have always bent over backwards to treat me more than right)..

I know even folks from SD are looking at them......Be a fantastic set of heifers with years of background of maternal breeding that you could breed any which way that tickled you pink....

I'll let you know how far off I was after Thursday (thats if the river road isn't flooded and I can get to town-- or the next predicted blizzard hasn't hit  )....
