Fox in the Gun Room

Northern Rancher

The kids caught a baby fox tonight-he was tangled up in some Northern Saskatchewan tumbleweed-black net wrap. They've got him in a pet carrier in the gun room-nice and dark and quiet in there.

I hope they all got a bath last night. Fox included.

FLEAS, YUK!!!!!! (or are you too far north for fleas?)

Friends of ours had a pet fox and they lived in a trailer.
If I recall correctly, they kept the fox under the trailer
with some type of fencing. They also had chickens. The
chickens would come up and peck through the fencing.
Didn't take the fox long to learn to snap their heads off
when they stuck their heads on his side of the fence. He got
real good at it. :p

I kept one as a pet for years! She was a great pet.

A wee bit stinky when she got excited as she'd pee on herself when she knew it was time for her to get her treat....ice cream!!

I kept her in a reg. dog kennel but she was used to coming in the house for a short visit.

But they will bite the pi$$ outta you from time to time!

One fella north of town here had a pet raccoon for a few years. Got it as a baby and it was smarter than any cat or dog I've ever seen. With that little thumb they can get into just about anything, so they can be a bigger pain in the @$$ than any cat or dog, too. Real easy to train, so he said. We hardly ever see fox around here, maybe 2 or 3 a year. Shame too, we used to see them alot when I was a kid. Every spring there'd be a pair holed up with their kits in the culvert down the road from our driveway about 200yds. They could make an awful racket in the evenings when they'd get yippin'.

We've had the grandson for the last couple days...hes having a blast and darn near every wild animal in the area has come to the yard to say Hi to Waylon.Six whitetails in yard last night,we had mallard ducks walking around the yard yes. afternoon{must have nest close by}, two yotes walked through the yard Thurs eve.and we sat on deck and watched mama fox and pups play across road in horse pasture,Waylon loved that.

The fox have been here for years, since greg and I bought the place off his dad who raised every kind of bird imaginable{believe thats the reason fox started hanging around} Shes had her pups under a number of out buildings but made a mistake a couple years ago and had them under the well shed across the road...the pups fell into the well pit so greg and daughter did a rescue,a couple times as a matter of fact...greg said his dad had to be rolling in his grave when greg saved those fox pups.
