Don't know if I really like Fred-his record is a little sketchy and lacking-with being a paid lobbyist for 25 years -but his "trophy wife" could really be an improvement to the scenery in the White House compared to old Hitlery...

Personally, I don't think as much of him as I once did. He's known what he was gonna do for a long time. If he's got time to be on Leno, he's got time to be at the debate with all of the other candidates that are really serious about discussing the issues. Letting them fight it out while he takes an easy interview on TV seems kinda chickenshit to me.

Just watched the debates tonite-- I think McCain actually came out winning- anyway to me he was the most open and flat out honest...Anyway he seemed like the person that was actually talking to you and not just putting out what will sound good to the voters....

Its just that his immigration stand I think has killed him- altho he has said he has seen the handwriting that the people of the nation told him and would follow it...

Romney and Guiliani didn't really impress me....

Tancredo/Hunter/Paul are someone I believe would actually clean up the immigration problem- and Tancredo/Paul have the best takes on maintaining our US sovereignty and keeping our nose out of everyones business-- but Paul looked old....Even older looking than McCain....

If a candidate was looking for exposure and to catch the eye of the media (UN)informed center...then going on Leno would be a hell of alot better then the debates...

for those of US concerned with politics, the debate re-enforced that the top media picks are not representative of what the Republican Party needs as a candidate...

Rudy is a Liberal..

Romney is a Massachusetts liberal Re-inventing himself...(or actually being honest now..Or telling voters what they wanted to hear, both times...or just, now or before..or...)

McCain is still toast because of Immigration..

Thompson was smart enough to try to appeal to disenfranchised voters on Leno..

leaving US with Paul, who will never get past the Primaries..
Tancredo, who is not getting heard on the issues
and a republican from California...Hunter

I am still leaning towards Hunter

From what I've read it sounds like she is a regular *itch....She is reported to be the reason Freds former campaign manager left- and several other campaign folks....She is a former Republican Committee campaign rep....

Fred never appeared to be that enthused about this whole President idea-- but it sure looks like she has her ideas set on the White House...

I guess fair is fair, he gets a trophy wife (complete with built in life preservers), she gets a trophy position in the White House....

You know Kola this is going to be comical watching how the Republican Party rationalizes all this "we're the family values party" with

Guliani and 3 marriages and nasty affairs
McCain with affair and 2nd wife
Thompson with history of Hollywood type womanizing (including singer Lorrie Morgan) and 2nd "trophy wife"
Romney--1 wife, but religion that is connected to allowing multiple wives

Then you add in the Foley, Vitter, Craig incidents and the strong family values is not the direction for the Repubs this year....

The blogs are having a hay day....

One of the things that surprised me watching the debates last night--the New Hampshire audience was really split on the issues involving homosexuality, gay marriage, abortion, and such...
I don't think its an issue that the Republican party should take a heavy stand on anymore--if they want to win...
There was strong support for opposition to illegal immigration-securing out borders first before any talk of guestworkers-- and maintaing our national sovereignty- keeping our nose out of other countries business (Probably the strong Libertarian feelings of NH)...

I see this morning that FOX news agrees with me that McCain came out on top...They said the debate shows the key issues voters are concerned about are:
1 IMMIGRATION-Secure the border (biggest issue by far)
2.Iraq War--bring it to Honorable ending
3.Economy/Stop the outsourcing of Jobs and Industry

Oh....they'll make themselves all seem like one big happy family!!!

What I can understand is that Rudy G. is a liberal but yet just cause he dances under the Rep. flag he's deemed as a Rep. Conservative.

Heck, I agree with most of Rudy's stances!

Probably the reason I disagree with so many-eh

He says different now--but he was pro illegal immigration/amnesty city--anti gun while he was mayor.....His past history doesn't really fit the Repub "family values" stand very well on abortion and gay rights either--altho I agree with him on abortion, that it should be left to the individual States....My position is that the federal courts/Congress shouldn't even touch the gay and abortion issues- leave it to the folks in the states to set their own guidelines......

Pretty soon we won't have to worry about it--the neocon Globalists will have us all adopting "Swedens" laws or something for their New World government.....

Unlike those anti-family people like the Clinton,s, married 22 years, The Edwards, married 20 years, the Richardson's married 33 years, or the Obama's, married for 15 years. Unlike Newt, John Edwards did NOT divorce his wife when he found out she had cancer. Sure am glad the Republicans are the party of family values, though......imagine the women (and boys) they would have gone through if they were as immoral as the Democrats........

Staff upheaval continued at the Thompson campaign with the departure of Mark Corallo, the fourth aide to leave the communications team in the last month. The moves reflect efforts by Bill Lacy, who ran Thompson's 1994 Senate bid, to put his stamp on the presidential campaign.

Looks like old Fred is still having aides problems....

I heard parts of his interview on Leno. Jay asked him why he was there and not at the debate with the rest. Fred replied that he would be doing his share of those types of "debates" but he didn't think very highly of them - said all they amounted to was making sound bytes and no real debating of the issues taking place. He would rather get with one or two of them for a longer sit-down talk where they could get into a discussion.

I also heard that some felt Duncan Hunter did very well at the debate. I'm kind of leaning towards him, but he is certainly an also-ran at this time.

Fred Thompson, who confirmed his candidacy just last week, has bounced into the lead ahead of former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani for the GOP presidential nomination, according to a new nationwide poll.

Rasmussen Reports' daily Presidential Tracking Poll today shows the former Tennessee senator favored by 26 percent of likely Republican primary voters. Giuliani, who has been the frontrunner most of this year, is in second with 22 percent, and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is a distant third at 13 percent.

Scott Rasmussen, an independent pollster for more than a decade, noted that technically, the two remain in a tie, since the margin of error for the poll of 600-650 likely Republican primary voters is plus or minus four percent.

You're joking right? You, like I do, live close enough to hear the news from NW Arkansas at least. Clinton hasn't been loyal to his wife either. They certainly aren't profamily.
