"There aren’t many other ways this scenario could have played out – let’s just hope the Administration has a plan to prevent Noori from following through on his promise." (last part of the article)

as if it couldn't get worse..

frankly I was not overly familiar with the Qataris,.. I knew where they were and like most countries surrounding Saudi Arabia.,, they are just more of the same.. they say one thing to the US while they do the opposite.

The Obama administration isn’t only giving the Taliban back its commanders — it’s giving them weapons.

Miliary records and sources reveal that on July 25, 2012, Taliban fighters in Kunar province successfully targeted a US Army CH-47 helicopter with a new generation Stinger missile.

They thought they had a surefire kill. But instead of bursting into flames, the Chinook just disappeared into the darkness as the American pilot recovered control of the aircraft and brought it to the ground in a hard landing.

The assault team jumped out the open doors and ran clear in case it exploded. Less than 30 seconds later, the Taliban gunner and his comrade erupted into flames as an American gunship overhead locked onto their position and opened fire.

The next day, an explosive ordnance disposal team arrived to pick through the wreckage and found unexploded pieces of a missile casing that could only belong to a Stinger missile.

Lodged in the right nacelle, they found one fragment that contained an entire serial number.

The investigation took time. Arms were twisted, noses put out of joint. But when the results came back, they were stunning: The Stinger tracked back to a lot that had been signed out by the CIA recently, not during the anti-Soviet jihad.

My sources in the US Special Operations community believe the Stinger fired against the Chinook was part of the same lot the CIA turned over to the Qataris in early 2011, weapons Hillary Rodham Clinton’s State Department intended for anti-Khadafy forces in Libya.

They believe the Qataris delivered between 50 and 60 of those same Stingers to the Taliban in early 2012, and an additional 200 SA-24 Igla-S surface-to-air missiles.

Qatar now is expected to hold five Taliban commanders released from Guantanamo for a year before allowing them to go to Afghanistan.

But if we can’t trust the Qataris not to give our weapons to the Taliban, how can we trust them with this?

now that obama has surrendered.. we as Americans need to demand we get our troops out of there as fast as possible..

and one of the most likely reasons for obama's stand down order, in Benghazi. Wouldn't that have been a scandal...gunship shows up to help out the Americans ans is shot down with a stinger, that was sent to the "anti quadafi" forces...

Kerry Hints at Drone Threat to Taliban in Swap

Guardian (UK) | Jun 09, 2014 | by Paul Lewis

The U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry hinted over the weekend that five Guantanamo Bay detainees released in exchange for an American soldier could be killed by drone strike if they return to the battlefield.

Kerry's threat against the Taliban fighters came as Republicans ramped-up their criticism of the deal to release Bowe Bergdahl, a prisoner of the Taliban for five years until he was freed last week. The 28-year-old soldier has reportedly told medical staff that he was tortured and beaten by his captors, and once locked in a metal cage in total darkness as punishment for an attempted escape.

Yesterday, it emerged the FBI is investigating death threats against Bergdahl's parents, who have not reacted publicly to the intense political debate now raging over the wisdom of trading five Guantanamo detainees for their son.

Republicans say the Taliban members, some of whom were senior commanders, are likely to return to Afghan conflict after the year they are compelled to stay in Qatar, which brokered the prisoner swap and has promised to monitor the five men.

But Kerry told CNN that the men were also being closely monitored by the U.S., which has "the ability to do things" if the terms of the arrangement with Qatar were violated. Although he did not overtly refer to drone strikes, he said the five men would be liable to get killed by the U.S. if they returned to the ranks of the Taliban.

"I am not telling you they don't have the ability to go back and get involved [in the Afghan conflict]," he said. "But they also have an ability to get killed doing that. I don't think anybody should doubt the capacity of the USA to protect Americans."

Asked if that meant the U.S. would kill them, Kerry replied: "The president has always said he will do whatever is necessary in order to protect the USA . ... So these guys pick a fight with us in the future, now, or at any time, at enormous risk. We have proven what we are capable of doing with the core al-Qaida in west Pakistan, Afghanistan."

The CIA is believed to have conducted more than 350 drone strikes in Pakistan since 2004, killing hundreds of al-Qaida-aligned fighters.

Sounds like a cheaper long run alternative than keeping them locked up in Quantanamo...
But that's right- since Obama started using them- rightwingernuts don't believe in drones!  :p

Did you hear what Oliver North said on Hannity about it tonight?

North stated that money was paid for the release of Bergdahl, that
the country that had him didn't care about the terrorists at Gitmo.
He looked directly at the camera and said
the only way to get to the bottom of what really happened was for a General to order a certain kind of investigation.

I bet there is more to come on all this.........MUCH MORE!

Does anyone think these newly released tacticians are dangerous because they fight in the open? Where intel can say "that guy has a gun." Terrorism is about skulking in the open as nonwarriors, and the 5 friends of Obama are dangerous as planners and tacticians and motivators. That is to say, their warcraft is carried out in secrecy and stealth. They can operate for a long time before US intel can show it, and they can be very difficult to find.

You're too stupid or words, OT.

Yeah mike don't you know that keeping 5 of the worst people to walk the planet under lock and key is way more expensive than using multimillion dollar drones and countless number of people and man hours to monitor for them?

It's progressive math. Plus, when more havoc had occurred, it will give them reason to take away more of your liberties for your safety of course.

I haven't really been able to make sense of such a stupid act as freeing the Obama 5; it just makes no sense to me. Not that Omamascrew makes sense to me, but I can see how it facilitates the transition to socialism (a recognizable priority of The Party). But terrorism has been pretty well held off, thus limiting the government's claim that we need to surrender more liberties in the name of safety. I gotta give wannabe credit, this explanation makes more sense than anything I've thought of.

Not sure what you mean by cheaper, but...hopefully the drones get him, before he has a chance to add more American trophies to his wall.

Now remember, everybody....that OT and this Bergdhal 5 Hadji worship the EXACT SAME GOD. The Hadji's God condones this behavior and even calls for it in the Koran. Since his God is the same as OT's, OT shouldn't have any problem with this whatsoever.

Let that sink in for a while.

Allahu Akbar!

OT obviously doesn't know about the swiftly emerging technology that could render drones useless. Electronic jamming and special wearables are coming soon to a theater near us all.

I wonder if the idiotic SOS even knows the answer to that. I think North is exactly right. And who is even going to take Drone strikes seriously when the rules of engagement have rendered so many soldiers defenseless?
