George W. Bush has been a disaster for this country across the board.
Our military is damaged. We're taking more soldiers without high school diplomas and with arrest records than ever in our volunteer army. The estimate is $1 trillion to replace or repair equipment post Iraq. The medical bill for our vets is going to be tremendous for a very long time.

Our economy is in shambles. Bush refused to fill many oversight positions in the government. From the border patrol to banking to the Consumer Products Safety Commission, he followed the conservative philosophy. So a few kids died from lead paint on toys? Hey, they shouldn't put them in their mouth, right?

Our national debt has ballooned. From a record Federal budget surplus, he's taken us to record Federal deficits. What happened to the money? He gave it away mostly to the wealthy in this country. "Trickle down" economicis. His own father called it "voodoo economics" when Reagan proposed it and he was right.

Our politics are dirtier. The bashing of a candidate's wifte may not have started with Republicans going after Hillary Clinton, but I believe it's been worse since then. Republicans are apparently afraid of smart women. And a war veteran used to be respected. Not after the Swift Boaters went after Kerry.

No one trusts our Justice Department. The Bush Administration used the Justice Department for political purposes. From going over the head of the acting Attorney General to Ashcroft in his hospital bed to get him to sign off on torture, to using their influence to get a popular Democrat sent to jail, they've turned our government into a political arm of the Republican Party. Let's not forget the firing of eight US attorneys because they insisted on following the law instead of the party line. it certainly makes one wonder what the others who didn't get fired where up to, doesn't it?

Right of the top of my head, I can come up with those. :D Maybe more later.....

Slow day? Wanting to stir the pot a little?

I say the more important question at hand is how good of a job has Stephen Harper been doing for the last couple years?

Iwould say he is adaquit(sp) ....I think he has some room for improvement but he has done some good things.I think we need more time to evaluate his leadership overall, but right now my complaints are few....I know nothing of his wife or his preacher..

Good is interest rates, the economy is thriving and I am making more nickels that I have ever made in my life. Do you remember what it was like with inflation and gas "shortages" under Carter? We are not sitting around listening to rhetoric about what political action we should take. We took military action. Libya remembers the republican's promise.

Bad is that he hasn't kissed the demo's tail and we get to listen to their rhetoric. They are passionate about spending tax money and it has been a while. They are doing nothing in the house or senate currently and won't until after this election. If we get a dem president, lord help us. That would sorta be dubya's fault.

Mr.Harpers getting more confident in his leadership. Kind of a hard thing to do when your running on a minority government. A REAL positive thats just been announced in the last couple weeks is revisiting the young offenders act,a pretty huge step for Mr.Harpers government and one I'm REALLY proud hes taking..... :D

I know that Mr.Harper is a Christian...I believe maybe Baptist but thats it.
What I know about his beliefs is....hes pretty left wing conservative and I've totally supported him from the beginning. If he can get a majority government in the next election....we'll see some pretty major changes :D

You have no knowledge of his preacher? You must be spending to much time talking about Bush instead of reading about Harper! He has an interesting Pastor and Church that he attends. coffee bar, Soft Rock band. I would think you would know a little about this, since Harper's religion has been an a topic of conversation.

But I do understand since his Pastor has not said he hated Canada, or accused Canadian Government of creating the Aids Virus to kill blacks, it is most likely he would slip under the radar for you, especially since you spend so much time worrying about Bush. I guess his rock and roll type sermons was not enough to catch your eye.

honestly I could care less about his religous beliefs or what his wife thinks...I am more concerned with the job he is and has done..I believe in hiring the best person available for the job.not his wife or pastor...A leader should lead and not follow...

Ps this thread is about learning the good and the bad...My opinon of bush is from outside eyes looking in..I get all the same media outlets you get..our nightly news hour does 15 minutes of world news each nite..I see bush on there alot.but I never voted on his promises and I was asking what people here felt about the job he has done?Be it good or bad....You just choose not to answer yet I answered your questions. If you have nothing to say on the bush subject ,then so be it...

I don't think many on here care about Obama's religious beliefs either, they care about the Anti American rhetoric that comes out of what is suppose to be a place of religion. No one is talking about rather Reverend Wright is Catholic, Protestant, Baptist or an Atheist. They are talking about being part of an organization and attending its meetings where a man speaks about Anti American things, and accuses the American Government of creating Aids to kill black people.

If Harper was attending was a member of an organization that its leader was anti Canadian, and blamed Canada's government of creating aids to kill your black Canadians you would not be concerned? You get upset if I say anything remotely anti Canadian, you would have no problem with Harper being part of a group that Says Canadians created aids to kill people? You would not mind if Harper hung out with some terrorist that tried to blow up your government buildings?

Come on get real, you would not vote for Harper if he did these same things that Obama did? Would you? You would vote for Harper if he had dinner many times with a man that said your government created aids to kill black people, if this man was an advisor of his?

Bush handled 911 well.

He sucked when it came to Katrina.

He has let the economy become shaky.

His number one mistake and biggest blunder losing respect and faith from so many of the American people.

If harper denouced those words by his preacher then that would mean he thought along the same lines as you Aplus.just like Obama did...So yes i would have no problem with voting for him.....now if he was speding trillions of dollars in another country when our country is hurting..then i would not vote for him.....I really care more about the number of canadians dieing in other countries, the economy, health care, crime and sentencing of crime, drug addiction and the overall postive progress within my country, rather then what his preacher is saying....
