I have probably missed this subject on here, but other than moving the calving season to April and May, what is everyone's secret weapon when it comes to saving ears on newborn calves during cold spells? Anyone tried the ear muffs and ear savers?

Turn the bulls out later.

When we winter calved, a roll of duct tape was handy. One and a half wraps to pin the ears to the neck and loose enough to not impede sucking kept the ears warm.

I was thinking the about the same thing today. Has anyone tried panty hose cut up and pulled over their head. Is it thick enought to keep them warm.

i seen an ad on craigslist some one was selling bovine bonnets, looked like insulated hood with eye holes and mouth, found them

I think a better choice is to move south!

Sorry but as I get older I need more warmth.

Really all your sudgestions seem great but I just hope I don't need any of them.
