Full circle, when I was a kid the 4th of July rodeos were all a home made production. The one in Fairview was on grass field that was also a softball field, with a small covered stand. There was some barrel races and pole bending but mainly it was kids riding Holstein calves. There always ended up at least one broken arm, and NO LAW SUITS.
We have a little buckaroo now on July 24th, and some mutton busting at the county fair.
The 4ths night rodeo was cow riding saddle bronc and bare back, barrels, poles, a wild cow race and wild cow milking, and some calf and team roping.
Then it turns into a stock contractor and circuit pro rodeo. Bulls instead of cows no wild cow milking and very few local cowboys riding.
Well the rodeo tonight is a ranch rodeo, local teams roping, cutting, chasing, even mail box and store races for the kids. Pulse the crowd will be bigger! During the Afternoon today are pack horse races enough teams that they will be a Calcutta. Monies raise today go to the local hospital.
There will still be a PRCA show at the fair but the horse pulls will bring a bigger crowd.
