Watching your gardens grow has been difficult yet somehow rewarding giving us northerners something to look forward to. Good thing our summer days are long so we can get caught up.

Well time to choose a tractor for the job. Snow tonight.

Well per, since you beat me out onto the greens, I'm gonna rub it in a bit.

AHEM.

We had our FIRST FRESH RADISHES from the garden today!!

Now I'm going golfing!!

I wish.

(But we really did have fresh radishes today. And since I first wrote this, I had to decline an invite to go golfing today  )

You check underneath to see the size of the potatoes. I doubt that yours are ready yet but maybe. How long ago did they flower?

Baby potaoes are delicious too MsSage.. I always plant Benjie's as they are the best when they are the size of a golf ball. :)

We always start rooting around for baby potatoes as soon as it looks like we may get some. If you're careful, you can swipe a few from wherever you find them, and leave the rest to grow.

Wash 'em. Boil 'em. Cover them with lots of butter and fresh green dill. mmmm......... :p

About all we've been able to use is chives and rhubarb so far. I guess we could probably grab a few green onions if we tried. I also have tomatoes blooming, but they're in the greenhouse. The outside ones are still scared to go out to the garden. It's been so windy here lately they'd just get pounded anyway.

Our garden is in and has now been rained on and snowed under and I am a bit jealous of the fresh radishes and potatoes but we will have our day. Golf tournament for tomorrow was just cancelled. Darn City folks, I had my colored golf balls and snow suit ready to go. :( Looking forward to some sunshine next week. We will be in a drought before you know it. :?

Here is a pic of the seeded earlier in the week garden. The ground temp is Plus 8 but the ambient temp is O to -1. The seeds will be just fine as long as they don't poke their head up for a few more days.

Well it looks like you guys in Alberta are just about the opposite of us here in mid-Western Ontario. You got cold and we got HOT.

It hit about 29 here yesterday when normal would be about 18 - 20. Stuff is just exploding out of the ground, soys are coming up in about 5 days after planting. There is a lot of haylage going into the dairy guys bunkers which is a full week or more earlier than usual.

It was a perfect week for haying but it's still too immature to cut for dry hay. Maybe next week though because the orchard grass is already fully headed out and will get hard quick in this heat.
