A bit of sharthouse luck his friend was there.

My wife's Grandfather owned a dude outfit at Grandby, Colorado back in the 50's. A black bear made it into an outhouse one morning and couldn't get out because of the one-way door. Frank ran out with a single-bitted axe and did away with the bear who had become a problem a few days previous to this incident.

While this was really a serious incident- I had to laugh visualizing that poor fella when he explained being dragged out of the outhouse with pants down around his ankles- and only a piece of paper in his hand !!
Those two old codgers seemed to be taking it like it was an everyday happening...

And sitting with the door wide open is the only way to utilyze an outhouse...

It's best to keep your pistol close when you have your pants down, found that out the hard way.

good luck

Well not many facilities in the brush country of south Texas, as a matter of fact bout all we have in the way of utilities are a few good windmills, no electricity, so of course no indoor plumbing in the old line shack, I dont think gravity flow would work unless I put in a cistern and I just aint there enough to justify one, so ole outhouse works for us, anyway while I was visiting the rickety old thing one morning about daybreak had just about enough daylite to read last years copy of "stockman" when I see this big rattler fixin to crawl inside, well there aint hardly enough room for me much less me and a big rattler, so there I sat with nuthin to defend myself with except a half roll of toliet paper and last years Stockman, was quite a jump and yowl as old elmo tells it, me clearing that rattler with my pants around my ankles and hit the ground a runnin, I caint say how big he was after I got my shotgun, was only a few 2 foot pieces to measure.
good luck

We are planning to build an outhouse out on my parents ground on the desert. Guess i'd better install a gunrack just to be safe. While i doubt a blackbear would find me, a rattler would cause me to make a new exit through whatever wall happened to be in the way!
