GE shareholders ask questions about NBC political bias

Things got testy Wednesday at the GE shareholders meeting courtesy of several complaints about political bias at its media division, NBC Universal.

Just don't expect to see the fireworks at the company's webcast of Wednesday's event, which contains prepared remarks from CEO Jeff Immelt and CFO Keith Sherin but leaves out their interaction with shareholders.

Just before GE board members were re-elected, shareholders asked about 10 questions of a mostly political nature concerning the viewpoints of MSNBC and CNBC, according to attendees.

First up was a woman asking about a reported meeting in which Immelt and NBC Uni CEO Jeff Zucker supposedly told top CNBC executives and talent to be less critical of President Obama and his policies.

Immelt acknowledged a meeting took place but said no one at CNBC was told what to say or not say about politics.

During the woman's follow-up question, her microphone was cut off. Later, during the umpteenth question about MSNBC, another shareholder's microphone was cut, according to multiple attendees.

"The crowd was very upset with MSNBC because of its leftward tilt," one attendee said. "Some former employees said they were embarrassed by it."

One specific complaint about MSNBC concerned Keith Olbermann's interview of actress Janeane Garofalo, who likened conservatives to racists and spoke of "the limbic brain inside a right-winger."

"They were upset that Olbermann didn't bother to challenge her," one GE shareholder said.

Immelt said he takes a hands-off approach to what is reported on the company's news networks, which prompted a shareholder to criticize him for not managing NBC Uni effectively.

"My biggest surprise was the open hostility to MSNBC," another shareholder said. "It was noticeable and loud. I don't remember any of this going on last year."

GE did not respond to repeated requests for comment.

Immelt said he takes a hands-off approach to what is reported on the company's news networks,

Bull, he is one of Obama's advisors and he isn't going to allow anything to be said on MSNBC to tarnish his man.

This audio of the meeting came out today. I guess it's a Fox reporter who's also a GE shareholder, and he asks a question of Immelt.

Bill O'Reilly is suppose to be having a big show tonight on GE, Immelt and Obama's administration ties. He was on Glenn Beck talking about tonight's show. If I remember right Immelt was suppose to have gone to MSNBC and told them to knock off anything that spoke against Obama.

That was the supposed discussion after Santelli went off, and after the Tea parties caused such a stir.

Santelli never showed for the meeting! He'll probably be over at Fox before long.

It is really to bad that a news network is not allowed to report the news when it goes against the boss man's buddy. Immelt has run GE into the ground and the stocks are relatively worthless and now he is running MSNBC into the ground by not allowing them to report the actual news. I think the US citizens should really fear the fact that this idiot Immelt is advising Obama on the economy.

He's not just advising him, he's also getting paid back by the benefits he's going to gain through the Global Warming scam!

With tax payer money to boot.

GE makes wind turbines and Obama is out selling Wind energy in Earth day. If Obama rewards GE any stimulus contracts it should be viewed as campaign pay back for the out and out support he got through MSNBC.

Has Fox said anything about this yet? I hope people spend some time looking into these connections. I'm hoping someone can prove me wrong! If we all just sit back, it's going to get real ugly!

Wait till Beck gets onto the Soros connection, he'll be livid! He's going to find out Soros' middle name is "Totus"

Immelt's the media source, in the Soviet Union, Soros owns his own meia outlets.

He's been involved in this all before, and it seems to be playing out the same way, to a degree.

Yes Fox is covering the GE, Immelt, MSNBC, Obama connection

And Soros as the force behind Obama's flip flop on the Bush Administration investigations, among other things.

Took them long enough!

The flip flop was a "tell" for sure. Can't remember which thread, but I mentioned MoveOn, putting the pressure on. Did they mention MoveON?

Him and Rahm couldn't even keep the script memorized, or in sync.

Good thing people are catching on. Those CNN, MSNBC etc viewers that switched over are going to be sitting with their mouths hanging open for some time.

I see where they are moving staff around at DHS. Wonder why?

Fox has been on the Soros connection for quite sometime. And yes they are watching Moveon.com they had a piece on them today about the flip flopping Obama did and how the left wingnuts and Pelosi are running Obama as he needs them to get his agenda through. Scarey thought isn't it.

Today FOX reported Pelosi lied about not being told about the waterboarding, as they had news articles dating back in 2007 that said she was repeatedly brief. By repeatedly they said it was about 30 times and one of the other Senators that was in on the briefing was on saying there was no way she could not have know and that she was one of the one encouraging the actions. She requested a truth commission today and I hope the first one put under oath is Pelosi and asked directly about the briefing she attended and lied about.

Did you hear where Pelosi called off the Senate ethics probe, after she found out about Senator Harman being caught on a wiretap making deals?

What a mess!

They still have an out! They can get rid of this guy tomorrow, if they want to.

Someone knows more than they are saying! Use a caterpillar, he or she will squeal like a baby!

But chances are the first to tell all will be one of 2 females. Look for one wearing a pant suit, and the other with a big perma-grin!
