First of all: NEVER TAKE ANYTHING TO THEM

They are a bunch of overpaid idiots. three weeks ago I took our laptop in for general cleaning, and checkup. It was working fine. But since our son is taking all his classes this semester online, I thought I should get it checked out, its under warranty. I left it on a Tuesday and they told me it'd take about 4 days. So Friday I called them to see if it was close to bein ready to pick up. Son had to log in to classes the next Monday. They said they hadn't even touched it yet, give them a couple more days. OK.....that'd be Sunday, they are open. Sunday morning they called and said there was major errors, and while running diagnostics the thing shut down 5 times. Hmmmm, never done that at home!!!! and they'd hafta send it to Toshiba Factory in California for repairs. Well ok, what can I do, now the thing doesn't work, hasta be fixed by manufacturer. They sent it off, said it'd be gone about a week. So the following Friday I called and asked if they could tell me if it had been fixed or not at Toshiba. Yes they said, it has been fixed and is in route to their store via UPS. But probably won't get there until Tuesday after Labor Day. Ok Tuesday, I called at 1 pm in the afternoon to see if they had it in. No it hadn't arrived yet. I asked why not??? and if I could have a tracking number so I could look it up. Tracked the package with the number they provided and Low n behold!!!!!! it was delivered to their store at 9:59am Tuesday Morning, and signed by so n so. I called em back, told them what I'd found....oh wait a minute ma'am, let me go to the back and check. sure nuff it was there. and they told me to come pick it up.
I did. Got it home, turned it on, and during boot up it has 4 errors for files it can't find anymore. Never done that before.......and there sittin in the middle of the screen is an Icon for a DVD player that's never been on the screen before. Ok...what does this tell me???? Geek Squad or someone used the laptop to sit and watch movies on instead of doin their job!!!!! One of the screws that holds the screen on was so loose it was about to fall out, and the fan that I wanted them to check because it makes a racket...is still makin the same racket. I used it some, but nothin worked right, it was slowwwwwwwwwwww, would lock up and then IE would close with errors. After 3 days, it would take it 45 minutes to boot up. The thing now won't do a dad blasted thing and I'm headin back to Best Buy and the Geek Squad to give em a piece of my mind, and get it fixed. If they can't fix it they better be prepared to replace it.

Ok..whewwww I feel better. Now.....got my pump primed...I"m goin to the Store LOL

I’ve told this story before

My foster daughter - Lila's “Mac” crashed – she was paying for Platinum Repair Service at “Good Guys” where she bought it 2 years before. Lila need a computer for work so after 4 months of fighting with “Good Guys” and renting a computer she bought a new one (Not At Good Guys) leaving 13 year old V_Key and I to fight for “Mac”.

Note:
Vickey’s CatchPen Gazette had been started on that Mac and she should have been in her 3 printing of 10,000 copies per month.

At this time we were driving to the COW PALACE in San Francisco when V_Key asked
“Where is Apple?”
About 2 miles over there
Can we go over and talk to them?

When we got there TV Channels were all over the place waiting for a Big Announcement.

The Receptionist ushered us into a small room with 6 or 7 telephones. This was a good lesson so I let V_Key speak for her self – she was on 3(?) speaker phone at one time when an Aid put her on Conference Call

Funny Thing Happened – Good Guy’s found the parts they need and had Mac back to us two day later.

The next week Apple called V_Key, told her how much they liked her News Paper and invited her up to tour their plant. The end of the tour was in the ‘Apple Mac Store’ where they Gave Her A New Mac and Printer. - - They also Factory Rebuilt her old computer.

The lead story with photos in her next issue:
Apple Transplant Saves CatchPen

The story was picked-up by Local and San Jose Papers

Well I didnt work my way from the bottom to the top, I started at the top. And the manager fixed it himself. Wouldn't ya know it, the recovery disk that has directions on the back, had the wrong directions. Says to hold down C key while bootin up, and the fella held down F12 key and it recovered just fine, took him all of about 30 minutes to get it up and goin just like brand new when we bought it. So our son has spent the afternoon gettin anti virus programs downloaded, and all the other stuff that is needed on it. Still gotta couple things to go, but it's workin great.
